does anyone know any place to get a tranny for a 92 16v gli? around 909 626 area my tranny just lost 5th gear and making funny can noises on every gear thanx for the help

There's a ton of junkyards in the IE. The 'tex even had a thread dedicated to it at one time. Try a search for SoCal junkyards.

karftwerks....call ron wood at vw specialties and he will gladly get you the number....very well known....$850 or more for the trans with core charge...plus anything you want to get done not including labor. I currently have a hole in my diff still and my car has been down for 5 months or so but did a LOT to it. Parted a whole 16v and have a trans sitting in the garage that was working fine off the parted car. If you want it i would let it go for a price....but it will have to be a good one because i was going to use it for the mean-time. lmk
