View Full Version : D70 Test shots of Downtown San Diego
Went down at 2am on sunday morning to test the D70 out for the first time. Shots came out ok, would have been much better had I arrived before midnight and the lights were still on in Downtown.

not too shaby ;) and plus your still learning the camera
Very nice.
I'm still a die hard Film SLR fan .... but as technology gets better, I may be converted sooner than later.
The price of that Digital SLR body+lens isn't that bad either!

ya Paul use to be a film freak too ;) but he switched over because of convenience ;)
prices on dslr's are very reasonable considering. It's just a matter of time before you start seeing 10-12mp pro-sumer level cameras out there. CCD technology is getting better all the time and cheaper. Just ordered the 70-200 f/2.8 VR AF-S from bhphoto so that should be here wednesday. This is all to get setup for motorsport photography!

The CANON 20D is due out in a couple a weeks!!!! the 10D that it is replacing is rumored to be dropping to 600 till they are all gone, the 20D should be 1500 like the 10D is, and the Canon Digital Rebel should be dropping before X-mas due to the 20D also. The d70 is a great DSLR, metal body and all, but no booster option, the canon Rebel DSLR has a better chip, but the plastic body is weak.

It's your money!!!!
Hard to beat their prices considering there is no tax. Doubt anyone local would ever be comparable in price. B&H is one of the largest Camera shops in the US and I have been doing business with them for almost 7 years now. Very reliable, and great service to boot.

That makes me happy that I decided to wait to get a DSLR... I was very heavily considering the Digital Rebel EOS/300d about a month ago. If the 10d is gonna come way down in price, I may have to do that instead. Then again, the EOS Rebel may come down too.....
Anyways, you photo buffs need to sign up at www.iphotoforum.com (http://www.iphotoforum.com)
Great webiste to learn, critique, ask advice, etc...

If you like B&H (not saying anything bad about them) try KEH, they're big too.

If you're not committed with an array of SLR lenses from Nikon or Canon, your options expand to smaller, digital-specific applications such as the Olympus E-1.
Hell, I just upgraded to an Oly E-10 (I keep to within four years behind the curve), which is a fixed lens DSLR.
E-10 full wide with 49mm 0.42x adapter, PS Panorama Tools aspect correction

What, no bloody virgins being sacrificed?
Some Mexican vacation that was...

Lens = good... 70-200 F2.8 for motorsports with the built in 1.5x crop factor = 300mm with 2.8 sharpness, add 1.4x teleconverter and we're still faster than a 5.6 by a full stop. well about there anyway. :)
Hey.. which pyramid was that?? I was just in Mexico for a 2 week vacation.. I'll post my pics of my visit to the Sun & Moon pyramids near Mexico City later... (Wow.. this is gonna turn into a high-bandwidth thread).
