View Full Version : Dropping my 1972 Superbeetle

Anyone have any How-to's or any informations on how to drop a 1972 German Superbeetle? Would like Information on parts I need and how to do it in general! THANKS!!!

you need to get lowering springs for the front, and the rear you need to remove the torsion bar covers, unbolt the trailing arms from the axle, pull the trailing arm from the torsion bar (be sure to mark where it is in conjunction to the torsion bar)
depending on how low you want to go either turn it up 1, 2, or 3 notches. put the trailing arm back on the torsion bar, bolt the torsion bar back onto the axle, bolt the torsion cover back on. viola your are done.


if you can locate some springs for the front i can do it for you, or walk you through it and you can do it yourself.

....and for anyone in doubt, a 1972 super beetle has struts in the front, if it was a standard beetle i could dump the car without spending a dime

does your happen to be orange or somethin with a black hood? i saw a bug in mira mesa earlier today with euro plates from and rear. just wondering.
