I was trying to shift into 3rd the other day but couldn't. Yes I had the clutch pushed in. I had to come to a complete stop and finally I was able to get it into 3rd from 2nd. Do I need a new clutch? How can I tell if my clutch is sh*t?

If it was just from 2nd to third, it probably isn't the clutch. It could be a messed up synchro. It could also be a messed up slider or shit mechanism. you can test the clutch by going about 10-15 miles per hour, then shifting into 4th or 5th. If the car doesn't die or almost die, then it's slipping. Also if you floor it and the rpm's rise but the car doesn't really accelerate. I don't think it'd be a clutch problem unless you start having problems in all the gears.

the shift linkage?
What car do you have first off!? Is you clutch OK? Easy, power shift the F*ckin thing in to second once its warm, if it chirps, your clutch is fine. if it slips and you smell that smell, order a clutch. Done

My car did the same thing the other night. But now it's fine. I just wrote it off as driver error until it happens again.

Mine is a 03 also. But I only have 12k. I did the short shifter swap myself and think I may be running into issues with the linkage adjustment though. Guess it's time to pull it apart and do it again.
