Before I start, I have no affiliation with Performance EFI. (http://www.performanceefi.com/) This is my review of their service.
==============================================
~2 weeks ago I was looking at getting my car chipped. I _really_ didn't want to pull my ECU and be without a car for a couple of days. While I was browsing the APR site I came across a San Diego dealer. Sent them an email and we scheduled a time for me to bring the car by to flash the ECU.
I show up at the scheduled time and Derrick is ready to get going on my car, no waiting around. Pull the car into his garage (THE cleanest garage I've ever seen) and he gets to work. As he is going through everything he explains exactly what is going on what why he is doing certain things. About 25 minutes after I go to the shop I was driving away. Car drove sooooooo much better with the upgraded software, wow.
Last week as I'm driving home from dinner with some friends my I get a CEL, only running 5PSI and generally running like shit. I get the car home and start debugging. Didn't notice anything that night so I decide to mess with it the next day. I called Derrick who was more than happy to help me figure out what the problem was, he has me check a bunch of stuff. After 4-5 phone calls on Friday and Saturday I found the problem to be a dead coilpack. I get that replaced and I'm back in business (still with a CEL).
Derrick has me come out to the shop on Saturday (while he was in the middle of other projects) to hook up the VAG and clear out all my codes (various misfires).
If you're in the San Diego area you should _really_ talk to Derrick before sending out your ECU for reprogramming.
