Just found out last weekend about one in town, decided I had to check it out ... and run it too.
Was much easier than I anticipated ... I figured on stock suspension, as a complete n00b, I'd be losing track of the course / plowing cones / barely carrying corners, especially when I saw much better cars drawing DNFs from mistakes ...
But I ended up with clean runs ... my best was 71.6 ... by comparo, some of the worst ran 100s and the top cars (Z06, STI, MCS) ran 62-63s.
I'll post up some pics or times as I get them. I definately have the bug now though :D
And where the hell do you get those helmets at anyway?
look for Snell SA2005 rated helmets only if you plan on doing any other type of driving event.
Where to buy? Local race shops (not tuners) like Subesports.

Ran #2 yesterday, this time with my new suspension setup [also a loose strut bearing, found that out after ...]
Didn't do quite as well as I'd hoped ... last run was good, but the course was much less technical, more tight, slightly slower ... wish my gearbox wasn't crap so I could have had more confidence and tried to downshift to 1st a few times.
But hey, did get some pics taken:

Ran an awesome, fast/large track last week ... that'll be my last for a while, need to rest the car, or maybe throw some $$ at the brakes / rear wheel noise ...
Local club posted a random pic of my car tho, better than the others:

Kinda like crack ... costs ~$20 and only lasts a few minutes, but damn is intense
autox brakes = track pads, IF you have time to warm it up before your run group... otherwise very aggressive street pads.

As far as helmets, here's the one I use:

Fits nicely and is light enough that I don't really feel that it's on me.
If you've got the racing bug, now it's time to move up to full track racing, heh ;)
