As with anything VW ... if they build it, and we bitch loud enough to wanting it, they'll send it over here.

R36? Rather than pumping out the VR6 displacement even further than 3.2L, VW should factory turbocharge the R32 mill

either turbo...or supercharge... that would be nuts....but wait it will probably go for $50,000 instead of $30,000

This right here is the reason we here in the US do not get the cool cars. Because we are too label hungry that we will not pay the extra money because it is a VW or a Honda. Why do you think the NSX is a Acura here, because people like us will not cought up 90k for a Honda.
This thinking is the reason why we will never see the Cogswell, R36, fully loaded R32 with DSG.
Thats why the market continues to make new names for their cars because the fact that i drive a Audi TT is so more special than a Bug when in fact they share the same platform and base. Or the Lexus Es300 and Camery, its the same freaking car.
Look at the Explorer and mountaineer. Same exact car but one sells while the other doesn't all because some people will pay more for one name and never pay for another.
If the car came out and there was no comparable car in that price range, i would get it. However, like the R32, i would have gotten a Skyline, i mean G35 for the same price, not because of the label but because i like the car better.

Hmmm. Don't you mean 350Z (not skyline). And platform is one thing. What you sit on it and power it with is quite another. The TT and the bug perform totally different because they're different cars (built on the same platform) they look completely different, have different wheelbases, and if you sit in the bug and the TT you won't find the same interior. Now a car like the A4 and the Passat - there's pretty much the same car (even with Quattro/4Motion)- but you can't say the same about the Tourage and the Cayenne... Although they have very similar aesthetic characteristics they Drive completely different, the interiors are on diff planets, and there's no 450hp twin turbo V8 offered by VW (if you've driven the Cayenne turbo you'd know).
The American car makers are the worst. Look what GM did with the Saabaru. Cool car, but it was already a cool car. And now they're gonna release a Saab SUV based on the Trail Blazer.
Back to the R36... I think those last couple of pics are PS'd (What do you think Rob?). That exhaust is just some fool forgetting to turn off a layer when he output the jpg (2 sets of exhaust?).
I like the idea of an R36 but I know I won't be looking to buy one.

in Japan, the G35 is a Skyline, mind you not the Skyline GTR that we all would like to drive around but the sedan it is here.
But my point is, the thinking of people that we will not buy this car because it is a VW is the reason why we do not see them over here. The market is not here because of it. There have been several Taurus, and Cogswells, and many other makes and models that have never seen the american shore.
I would love to see this car make it to the US and i do infact think it will be produced but untill we establish a market that will accept it and buy it for what it is and not what it is badged it may never make it. Heck, there are still R32's on show room floors and it is a limited model.
