BULLSHIT!!! You gotta be 25 to drive.
They're going to have RS4s and I can't drive it!!! This sucks!!
Not only do you get to drive the 420hp RS 4 but....
"There will also be a large, low friction/traction area to demonstrate Audi’s famous quattro® system. This is a Teflon-coated surface coated with soap and water that has traction much like snowy asphalt."
I am seriously about to cry because Im only 24. Bastards.

This sucks!!!! What if i wanna buy an Audi, but since i cant even do this event, cause im not 25+, I change my mind, and go but a ford instead? what then? Audi should lower the age limit.
Just because im 23, doesnt mean that I cant be responible. I bet i can outdrive most of the priks that are just going there that never even sat in an audi. (not intend for any of you socalers) ;)
bleh..
Sorry, had to vent. Im ok now.

Well, let me be the first to say
WEAK!
I drove the Q7 and that was fun. I'm not an SUV guy, so it was WAY too much SUV for me. (I still want an old S6 Avant)
But the wait for the RS4 was about 4 hours long. Our completely meaningless "appointment" was at 11:00, and we signed up for both cars as soon as we got there. We drove the Q7 at about 1:15, but I had to leave at 2:30, and never got to drive the RS4. I was next on the list, but driving it would have made me late for work.
Sahand at least got to ride in the back (almost fun) and Lon, I ALMOST had you in there. He actually put your name on the list, and then reconsidered.
It was an OK set-up, and Aviara was awesome, but it was a pretty poorly-run event. They completely misjudged how many people were going to attend, they invited a lot of people who had no interest in Audis and I think the drives may have been a bit too long. If you're doing an event like this, and you just want someone to get a quick experience of a new car, make it quick and let them go to the dealer for a better demo. We saw a few of the cars sitting outside for 10 minutes, with no one in them. That's not going to get 3 pages worth of people in the driver seat.
All in all, not horrible, but fairly disappointing. If you plan on going tomorrow, plan on getting there when it opens, and get your name on the list ASAP.
And all I have to show for the whole thing, is a bag ful of Audi lifestyle propaganda and a few crappy pictures of the S8. (the gadget-loaded, well deetailed and absolutely beautiful S8)
Good luck,
Tony

It was a great event ... and I got you beat ... topped 145 in the RS4. I drove it like a bat out of hell the whole way, I don't think I was under 100 for more than a few minutes. The german tech didn't say a thing the whole time.
Phenomenal car. I talked to the guy at the concierge and waited about 35 minutes to drive the RS4.

Well, I'm sure I'm not the only one who got to drive the new RS4 today at Audi's Streets Of Tomorrow, but my experience was probably the most unique.
When we arrived to the event and went to the RS4 test drive registration, the staff member said there's 3h wait to get to test drive one. I was like WTF and there's no way I'm gonna wait 3h to get to drive one (since I didn't know "how" were you allowed to drive it).
Well, surprise surprise I was still in the event 4h later watching other people's grind in their faces after test driving the RS4. I was like fcuk! I was standing outside to get a passanger seat on one the RS4s, when one of the driving instructors tells me that he needs to go and fill up the and I could ride with him. I was like cool, that sounds great. On our way the instructor was flooring flooring the RS4 like hell. Once we got to the gas station, he asks who wants to drive back and fortunately I was the only one over 25 in that group (s4_audi_sd's little brother and his friend were riding with me) so I got the drivers seat.
We took of and I drove the car like there was no tomorrow. :D On the low end there isn't that much torque (317 ft.lbs) but from 3500rpm to 8500rpm that car pulls like mofo! We raced a bit with a black BMW and 5min later cop pulled that BMW over since it didn't have a license plate. :p After the cop is out of sight I got one more chance to floor it before we are back at the event (we changed the driver just before arriving so it wouldn't look so suspicious :p)
Overall the RS4 is by far the fastest car I've driven, but I'm not sure would I pay 75k (with tax) for it. Maybe I could, if it came as an Avant and I had extra set of lungs and heart to donate. :p
Here're some pics of the yellow beast. Notice that they have a some kind of wastegate in the muffler (it was on both sides).
Btw, my favorite car of the event was definately the Euro spec Audi S8. *drool*
Only thing that is missing from the last pic is a hot chick (everything else is set up, RS4 and a shocker)
:D :smokem:

I mean, we did have a good time, but we didn't get to do the one thing we really wanted to do.

It thinned out a lot near the end. I also chatted up the people at the concierge desk and hung out right there and he got me a ride before they got to my name on the list. If you can, I'd recommend dropping by later this afternoon. I think you could get in without registration. Despite it being marked full, you can still register online though. :)

Heheh... Did you get to drive my hooptie?
I felt so bad. I got there and it was valet only and I'm thinking "I have a check engine light because my EGR isn't hooked up right now and an airbag light from my recaros and a boost leak somewhere so the car sounds like a vacuum cleaner"... I was so embarassed.

Dude, we went in our GTi and had to explain to the valet that the shifter is broken, so be careful putting it into 1st because you'll end up in Reverse really easy!
But as far as the event, after we ate, it was SO BORING to wait around. Good thing the food was OFF THE CHAIN! Luckily I got to cut in the Q7 line, which was the only thing I got to drive because I was going to the Padres game.
And I don't know what everybody was complaining about being 25+ to drive... they checked my ID and didn't even question it. :)
