I have a friend with a Grand Cherokee, that is out of warranty, and he still takes it to the stealership for repairs. Anyone know of a good Jeep mechanic in South OC that he might check into? Thanks.

i think any shop in santa ana would be cheap and can work on a jeep

More looking for a shop that is recommended by someone that has experience dealing with the shop...and a shop that mostly works on Jeeps, not just any domestic. Anyone? Bueller?

The ones I've found either (a) are not broken down by region, or (b) cater to states other than CA, or (c) are crap. They tend to be more about 4 wheeling and modding to 4 wheel, than for general repairs. I have posted on a few, but if someone here has a suggestion I would feel better about it.

what's he need done?
i know most of the jeep shops in OC.....since, well, i own one ;)
depending on the KIND of work to be done, I would recommend different places....
best overall jeep place, imho, is Jeep Care Ctr in huntington beach....great, honest service....
there is Jeeps r' us in the laguna canyon

yeah, but they are better for off-road mods, etc....regular maintenance there would be too expensive and it's pretty hard to get an appointment tehre....and they don't generally work on newer jeeps, mostly CJ's and YJ's.

He needs to shocks on his 4x2 and some service on his rear diff or bearings...it's making a lot of noise. I read on one board that he should try synthetic diff oil, but he was told by the stealership that it was likely the bearings going or he needed new axles. He needs a 2nd opinion.

well, shocks are absurdly easy....all you need is a ratchet and a hammer....
the rear diff is easy, too....
but just make an appointment at jeep care center and they will tell him exactly what he needs and NOTHING more.
