i'd rather have a mkiv because: i am closer to paying it off and i've invested (still am) alot of money into it.
but hell.. if i had another option, i'd buy a mkv too.. :)

Personally, I would only choose between a Mk1, 2, or 3. As for 'at the end which one could be faster' it all comes down to this... Speed costs money, how much do you want to spend? *Anything* can be fast with enough time and money.

fastest, definitely the MK1, MK2 with a motor transplant ;)

the MK1 MK2 are by far my fave VW chassis ... id be quite happy with a MK2 1.8t with a big turbo ;) of course not much traction, but oh wells ;)

I read yesterday that VW was planning on bringing out a 30th Anniversary in Europe so they would more than likely bring that out as a 25th anniversary here.

Tough to say. MKIV for the looks/styling. MKV for the 2.0T! So I guess an MKIV with a 2.0T...

A NB MkIV with 2.0T/DSG. Hell, put in Quattro while you're at it. Chop chop.

DING DING DING!

Truth is, VW really dropped the ball with the new design. I see Jetta V's in traffic next to other crappy cars (Corrolas etc..) and they look nearly the same.

MKIV had a much smoother, stand alone design. And the previous generations of VW's as well.

MKIV, it still looks like a European car, where as the MKV looks more like a Japanesse car, no offense to MKV owners it doesn't really like european. I have a MKIV and love the car, if I had the money I would have purchased a R32. The only reason why I would purchase a MKV generation car is if they produced the R36 and it had some radical body styling that cleaned up the looks of the car.

true but think how clean the MKV GTI anniversary edition is going to look and what extra's they will add to it...plus it comes stock with xenon headlight's and DSG...that right there kinda top's it off a little bit, but I am a MKIV owner and I love my baby.:smokem:

its still going to be a mkv no matter what add-ons they add to it. i mean i have a 20 ae right now, but i still consider it a regular gti. all it has is a body kit on the outside, its dropped a little bit, got brakes, and has interior mods. you can buy those things by themselves, so it's not that much of a difference.
