it will not come to the US with those cool Recaro seats, they don't have side airbags. VW may send it with the same Konigs as the last R32, or they may just put GTi seats in it.
No word yet on whether we'll get DSG, 4 door, or even an R32 version... but VW does have a MKV R32 here in SoCal being tested, so the door of possibility is open that we might get it.
Or we might have to wait til the R36 comes out.
Chances are it will not be as cheap as the last one, probably closer to $37k base price.

I heard that we were for sure going to see the R32 in '07, and that the R36 idea is not happening.

Nothing is for sure. But it's very likely that we'll get an R32 at the tail end of MkV production, if not the R36. Apparently the M350DSG tranny doesn't like the 3.6L motor, and the larger R8DSG tranny doesn't fit well in the MkV, so there are some issues with that availability.

I don't know about Q4 of 06. The car would still have to be introduced at autoshows in the US and it hasn't even made an appearance on this side of the pond.

^ Actually it has, it's tooling around LA these days. And VW showed it at the SoCal R32 Streets of Willow track event a month ago.

VW is such a tease showing the world, and especially our automotive press, the R32 that won't make it to the states (maybe at the end of the mkV run).
Damn those bastards

I don't know... it seems about right. The mkIV R didn't hit the states 'til what, about 2003 (correct me if I'm wrong, but please don't be an ass about it). That was a good 3 1/2 years into the mkIV run.
The mkV R will more than likely be out Q4 of 07, or Q1 of 08, about 2 years into the mkV run. It happens to be at the end of the mkV run because VW, from what I understand, has decided to cut the run short due to high production costs. Again this only what I have heard from people here on SCE.

no, its just that we are their second largest market (I think that's correct) and we don't get their full product line, and delay on a lot of what we do get.

Excellent point... though I like to pretend sometimes and say they are fine tuning before they release here in order to work out the problems... :ha:

That's correct. I read it in Autoweek a few issues back.
