i have a contact at a job recruiter if you're interested. The office I go through is in torrance, but they have a satillite office in orange county (i believe newport).
They have a lot of office type jobs in OC. i can give you the website if you'd like to apply in Orange County, or if you don't mind driving to Torrance for an interview, I can give you the contact information of the person I went through. She was very thorough at getting me a job, and I have referred several people to her before.

i am not currently working at the job theyrecomended me for. They had 2 positions for me, one was writing press releases, the other was the marketing director for the automotive division for Fox Racing. I got tired of waiting for the Fox job (after 2 weeks, i said screw it and just took a job, they said it was going to be a 1-3 month process and i didn't have time) and when they called me for the PR job, I already had something else lined up.
What kind of job ARE you looking for? do you really want another retail job?

what outlets did you try? did you hit up any recruiters or temp agencies?
i have a lunch meeting setup today with a high profile tech recruiter in the LA area... but I don't know if you guys would qualify. Have to have major IT experience as their 'entry' level position is corporate help desk

Why is "entry" quoted... isn't helpdesk always entry level?

I am tired of my job also. It is so slow and boring. I end up leaving early every other day to find something to do becuase it is so slow.
The problem is I always end up surfing or playing with my RC Truck. It's all getting old.

"Major IT experience" and "Help desk" are orthogonal.

one of them was telemarketing and the other was filing. both were super boring. i went through talent tree and i forget the other one. what is the difference of a recruiter?

eh, if you want something just plain and will get you through ur day. Go for like a serving job or something. Technically i can make between 20-25/hour including hourly just because of the tips i make. For higher end restaurants, more than likely you'll earn more. and depending on how they manage the times, you work for about 4-6 hours depending on business.
another upside is that you get cash by the end of the night! Holidays are the best to work as well!

recruiters get a lot more permanent jobs, usually with salary or good hourly pay and benefits. But you have to have some skills. Most recruiters specialize in something (IT / office / creative / etc). Temp companies usually just have temp and temp-to-hire (which is more like temp-to-fire).
try adecco or team one
