My Jetta just starting acting bad today. It stalled on me while sitting idle at a stoplight three times today and it also backfired while letting of the gas from medium acceleration. All the above with no CEL.
I have no tools with me out here they are all back east with my older VW. First thing I want to check is the air filter on my CAI and give it a good cleaning. Would anyone be willing to lend some tools and a driveway for me to check some things on my car. I will bring beer of course but not fizzy yellow beer. Thanks

If I had a free driveway I would offer it to you, however sounds like you are having problems with your diverter valve, There is a possible chance you have popped it off one side or the other or perhaps its getting stuck or its clogged. You are getting a rich environment in your turbo inlet pipe which is causing the stall and the backfire. There is a possibility that the pipe has slightly detached from the turbo or there's a fitting between the turbo and the Maf that has either cracked, popped off, or is leaking. I would take a good look up and down your TIP and see if perhaps there is something missing or cracked. You have the same year car as me so I don't see why anything would be going bad. Where in SanDiego are you?. If you want I can stop by and check your car out. I have a bag of small engine tools that I can do just about everything to your car with that I keep in the back of my car, not necessarily for my car but for all of the poor bastards that get stuck on the road or I happen to come upon during my daily routine. I am pretty much free the whole weekend, I do have duty but I don't think they will be calling me anytime soon.
