And just in case you didn't know, there is also a rink in Mira Mesa, one in the mall at UTC and 2 off Valley Parkway in Escondido.

UTC doesn't (maybe does now) have glass all the way around.
Mira Mesa is crooked. If you stand with your toes to the boards at the players benches, you'll glide backwards to the penalty boxes.
Iceoplex (Escondido) has pretty nice facilities. I haven't played there much in the last year and a half, and the league administration seems to go from OK to kinda crappy, but the ice is pretty good and you don't have to worry about stepping on the cement between the cracks in the rubber mats.

Oh yea... played in them all when I was on a travel team. Even practiced and played many games down at the sports arena, aka ipayone center.

UTC does now have complete boards and glass

Mira Mesa completely re-did the ice, ice coolers, boards, glass... everything recently. Havent skated there since the remodel... but it looks good.

Iceoplex is good. Used to play there regularly.

I like the kroc center rink. Its pretty new, and I kinda know the guy that runs the hockey program. His dad used to be my coach for the travel team.

Oh yeah, the Sports Arena. I forgot that one. I thin the last time I was there, I was working for Staff Pro. I always volunteered to go up on the roof and watch over the parking lot. I actually got a guy arrested when I conned security in to where the guy was stealing a license plate.

I actually met my wife playing hockey. I was asked to play for a co-ed team in Mira Mesa, and she and 3 other women were on the team. That's a good way to start a relationship. (no, not the fact that we were both in our underwear) We don't argue about what to watch on TV. We argue about what hockey game to watch on TV.

At the skate and shoot I go to on Friday nights... theres really no hitting because most people are just doing their own thing. I usually wear full gear cause I like to post up in front of the net and practice tip-ins. But I have seen some guys that come out in just skates, shin pads, gloves and helmet.

This is a good place to go to get back into the game. You can practice your skills and not have to worry about actually playing in a game yet.

Somewhere on here is the sign-up for the league in Escondido. They're a few weeks into the season, but if you tell them what level you play, they'll place you on a team.

I stopped playing for3 reasons. The league games for my division (unles I really wanted to wear myself out and play up 2 divisions) were on Sunday night, sometimes as late as 10PM. It's really expensive ($395 for a 20 game season) and I have to travel a lot and I would miss a lot of games. I saw and was taking (receiveing end of) a lot of cheap shots. I really have no need to end my Navy career because some fucker thought it would be easier to go knee-on-knee than to go for the puck. I also had a guy chop me in the throat, behind the net, when the play was past the blue line. A guy hit me (not allowed) and I was slow getting up. The guy waited for me to get to my feet and BAM! 2 hander with his blade, right below the adams apple. I couldn't breathe and I lost my voice for about a week.
This is the only number I have ever taken.
