Well for anybody who have seen us at a gtg you probably remember our son more than me or my wife.

Most already know I am in Iraq and will be here for a while. My wife is in San Clemente taking care of our son, Dominic. I recently got an email from her saying that Dominic had to go to the hospital for an overnighter due to pneumonia. That over-nighter looks to be turning into a few-day-er. Jane (My wife aka BettaGettaGurl) emailed me asking to call her. We found out that Dominic has to get heart surgery due to a heart murmer and his heart is working to hard to compensate but they can't work on it until he gets through the pneumonia.

Jane is holding things down with the help of our neighbor (who's husband is also deployed). I am not sure when I will be able to get back to the states on account of all this, nor am I sure exactly why I am making this a post.

But, I guess since I can't be there, any morale/ thread support for the wife to see would help I think, and it is much appreciated by myself.

For all those who have already met Dominic I am sure you can understand why it is hard for me to not be there. For all those who haven't yet met Dominic, when you do, you'll see why.

If Jane needs anything, you guys really aren't too far from me. I'd be more than happy to help if needed.

I'll keep you guys in my thoughts and prayers.

You're a fellow Marine and an ex-neighbor; If you or your wife need ANYTHING, drop me a line and I'll be there...

Thanks guys. An update... Dominic can get out of the bed to walk around and stuff. When he does, he grabs his mom's hand and tugs and says "Bye Bye?, Bye Bye." He thinks he is ready to leave. They are also looking to see if he does have pneumonia or if his condition is brought on by the murmur. Either way, the docs make it seem like an easy fix. They just have to clamp a small hole shut. I guess it is the hole that is there when a baby is in the womb, it just never closed like it was supposed to. Other than having to undergo surgery, things are sounding on the upside.

Thanks again everybody. Hopefully the wife will make it home sometime to read the thread.

This is surely a rough time to be a single parent :( . Our son has become my hero. He's such a tough little guy and I know he'll get through anything :p . Thank you all for your thoughts. It is truly appreciated

Everything will be fine, it's not that uncommon. I know of 2 people who have gone through this. 1 was an adult and one a child and they both came through without a hitch..godspeed

Thanks again to all! Maybe you guys can persuade the wife to head out to a gtg sometime soon with the little guy. I'll try to make it out to one when I get time for leave.

Glad to hear that Dominic is back home and is doing a little better. He will be in my prayers that the surgery goes well in August. I can only imagine the hardship you both are going through with the little one being sick and you being on deployment so far away. Keep your spirits up...

Hope the little guy is doing well... I also had open heart surgery for the same exact thing they found it when i was two. Still have a mean ol scar to prove it. Prayers and wishes go out to your son and family!

You're not in this by yourself. SCE is behind you and I'm sure you'll find great support from your husband's unit.
