Yup they managed to shave off 75% of the original size! We got an internal Memo about it today but not pictures attached. All of us in the office were all wondering what it would look like.

Sony's Halo 2 Party Crasher?

>> From TeamXbox.com:

Sony Computer Entertainment Inc. announced today a new PlayStation 2 (SCPH-70000), which will become available on November 3rd in Japan and is expected to hit stores in North America and Europe on November 1st, just a week before Halo 2. There have also been rumors that GTA San Andreas, a PS2 exclusive, might be delayed one week to coincide its launch with the new PS2.
Equipped with an integrated Ethernet port for network gaming, the new PlayStation 2 is almost as small as a hardcover book.
Internal volume has been reduced by 75%, overall weight has been halved, and thickness trimmed down to 2.8 cm (thickness of current model is 7.8 cm).

Will Microsoft follow and also release a smaller version of the Xbox? Microsoft has often followed the steps of Sony. So far no information has been released and it's possibly more diffucult for Microsoft to develop such a smaller Xbox as they have less control over the hardware (nvidia, HD and DVDrom partners, ...) then Sony. Tell us what you think on forums.xbox-scene.com.

I work at SCEA, Sony Computer Entertainment Of America, which deals with online first party titles for the PS2, PSP, and the next generation Playstation Console (PS3 as they've called it).

The other one deals with computer games (Planet Side, Everquest, etc) and that is Sony Online Entertainment (SOE).

I dunno if I can release street dates for GT4. But it sure will make a great stocking stuffer

This plus KillZone (http://www.killzoneps2.com/) would be a Halo2 party crasher.

I have heard that Microsoft is rumored to create a smaller version of the "XBOX" as such is the new playstation 2, which is still hearsay til I see it(Xbox). Which in size alone of the PS Two truley rocks by the way.
Then, I if they can create a hardcore laptop that can do nearly everything that a huge desktop can do and them some then I think that it is true. Microsoft will dazzle and amaze everyone with their toy.

I do think that it may be rather expensivie if they do...

Any clue on how much this thing (PS 2) will cost when it hits the market?
