my oil light has come on every 2k miles. i bought the car with 39k miles and after that every 2-3k miles i drive the light comes on saying i have NO oil. and i check my dipstick and its as clean as a whistle. the first two times this happened i was at audi dealerships, so i got lucky and the topped it off (free of charge). but im not at a dealer right now and i have no oil. they told me the tt225 goes through oil a bit faster than most other cars, but every 2k miles?? something else has to be wrong with it! btw there is no oil leak, the dealer checked it out last time. is there something wrong with my car or is this normal?

uh says who? =\ There's something wrong if your car is burning that much oil. I can understand maybe up to a quarter per 4000-5000 miles, but every 2-3 dry is bad.

Not normal at all.

Are you noticing alot of soot in your exhaust? If there is no leak then the only place the oil can go is out the tailpipe when it is burnt.

Check your coolant too. The oil cooler has coolant pumped through it. On occasion, its been known to rupture internally and let oil escape into the coolant system. See if you have bad news in your coolant system.

Definitely not normal.

What dealership told you that?

I'd try a different dealership.

Turbocharged motors do tend to burn more oil than an NA car. If its still under warranty, document it, and complain untill the cows come home if its excessive.

You need to look in your owners manual to see what Audi call "acceptable" for oil consumption. My guess is a quart every 1000 miles. so 2-3K miles is 2-3 quarts being "acceptable" on a motor that doesnt even hold 5 quarts, your light will come on.

To show you how bad it is, a NORMAL run of the mill BMW motor is spec'd at one quart per 750 miles. If thats not bad enough, the Motorsport cars are spec'd at 2.5 QUARTS per 1000 MILES!!!!!!

I was just thinking... Maybe your pcv system is jacked up. We lose some oil through it but usually not as much as you are describing.
