OK all you so cal folks, I'm looking for referrals for color matching my sides, rear and front bumper (minor body work needed on the front...fill license plate holes).

anyone have any referrals/recommendations? preferrably someone in the san diego area that has quick turn around, and EXCELLENT service, and most of all QUALITY WORK.

my car is a 2003 avant, silver. and the paint is in relatively good condition. i think if i gave the bodyshop the color code and if they use the proper technics to mix the paint, it will come out a pretty even match. HOLLA.

thanks in advance.

Brian

What's everyone's opinion about Mob Works? I might be getting some work done there soon.

Thanks everyone for your input.

I kinda like this forum better. Less drama. (those of you that know what i'm talking about, KNOW what i'm talkin about) ;) i love how you all just put your opinions up, no static. this other forum i frequent, questions like this would end up getting replys like: "Why would you go there? they suck"

*** ANYWAYS ***

i actually have a little more body work involved with my question. there are 6 license plate holes in the front (yes 6! 4 for the plate mount, and 2 because the previous owner used LONG screws to secure the plate and they tapped into the bumper) and then the Kerscher lower has a 1" gouge they need to repair.

The rest of the work entails:
- remove side mouldings, prep, paint, reinstall.
- Remove stock rear bumper, prep/paint new s4 rear bumper, install.
- body work mentioned above for front, then fit/install the kerscher lip.

aaaah Chapparone is good. and expensive. i had my Tacoma bumpers matched there and they did a realllly good job.

Thought about Amatos there on Sorrento Valley road, but they're always soooo busy with bmws, porches and other vehicles w/ body damage and my car might get pushed aside.

Called Sinful, they wanted upwards of $1800 for the work described above.

Ended up talking to my friend who's roommate works for Bumper Medic there on miramar road. I decided to go with them for several reasons:

1. he gave me a good deal. waaaaay better than sinful's quote. sub $1000
2. ensure their paint matching process is exact to manufacturers specification, gave me a tour of their (small) facility.
3. Specialization & quick turn around time. they ONLY work on bumpers and other "plastic" parts so really the shop specializes in the work I need.
4. Location - i live less than 5 miles from their shop. Convenient for drop off, pick up and warranty issues.
5. Good reputation, and since the connection is my friend's roommate, he better take care of my car cause i know where he lives!

Thanks again for your input, i'm sure you all have your favorites. If all goes well @ Bumper Medic we'll have another good color matching shop to recommend.

keep it easy.
Brian

PS: my brother works for AJUSA! but he's just in the web department. =)

hey everyone w/ a Kerscher. Just looked at my car that's in the shop and the fitment on the kerscher kit is BAAAAD. I hate to use this person's car as an example, but this i get the feeling my front is gonna end up looking like this

I mean, the bumper was off the car and in the paint booth, but the guy showed it to me and i was like... damn, i hope it looks better when it's ON the car, but it doesn't look promising at this point. More pics to come when i pick it up on Friday.

the one other question i wanted to ask regarding the Kerscher is that i noticed from some of the pics on a4mods.com is that it looks like some people have the front lip w/out the front indentation for the euro plate, while others (like mine) do have it. Is there perhaps another version of the Kerscher lip that has just a flat front for the US spec bumpers? OR, do all Kerscher lips have that euro plate indentation?

Thanks, man i hope this turns out ok....
