I'm a bit confused........I was told by the dealer last time to schedule my next maintenance appt at 10,000 miles. So I did, drove all the way there and the guy said "Oh, this is a 04, so it doesn't need the next maintenance until 15,000 miles". So I said "oh ok, and left".........BUT I keep getting that little service message on my dash that says "Service in 00 miles or 88 days" (or whatever). So i'm lost....do I need my 10,000 mile maintenance or not??? HELP.

Check your owner's manual, It should have a maintainance schedule in it.

I had the same thing with my 2004 A4 when I took my car to 5k service. They printed 10k for the next scheduled service, even though it's 15k. It should be, 5k,15k,25k and so on.

and if the screen is giving you notices, it just means that the tech didn't reset it properly and its thinking that its time for another service

^^^^
I'm guessing that's what happened (I checked my manual and it says 5, 15, 25, etc). Now it's saying "SERVICE!". So I called and the soonest appointment they had was Tuesday.
GREAT......so now I get to wake up early (again) and take it in. Arrgh. What a waste of my time.
I wish Audi was open for maintenance on weekends like they used to be.
The whole waking up early to drop off your car (so that you make it to work at a decent time) and then having to get a ride (or wait forever for their shuttle crap) is just annoying.
Oh well.......nothing I can do but just deal with it.
Thanks for your help guys! :)

UPDATE.......yep, they just didn't reset it. What a waste of my time. Nothing like waking up at least 30 minutes earlier (TWICE) and driving completely out of the way....for someone elses stupidity. Arrgh. Oh well.

We'll here's how it works
Scheduled maintaince is 5k, 15k, 25k ...
However you should get oil changes at 10k, 20k, etc ...
and yup ... you got it right, they didnt reset ...
also a note, they should give you synthetic oil as a requirement about the tech bulletin that got released recently.
