From www.audiusa.com:
"The 2006 Audi TT models do not meet California emission standards and cannot be sold in California or in those states that have adopted California emission standards, i.e., New York, Massachusetts, Vermont or Maine. Therefore, the TT Coupe and Roadster are not available in the "Choose a model" menu. "

I dont think you can title a car from another state here unless it has more than 10000 miles, and it still has to meet smog regs. So... only option would be to keep out of state plates on it and drive it here. :( I had to read up on it a bit for my own TT.
in order to bring it in, it needs to have over a certain time/mileage..................
Emissions laws suck, Like the TT is really running dirtier than all these F350's and governmant cars and trucks............................

dmv only ask for the smog certification to register you vehicle in california, it does not matter how many miles your car has

Doesn't matter now anyway... the MKII TT will be available here soon.
The 2006 model that was affected is the MKI so alot of people will just wait to get the new model or save themselves some cash and go preowned.

"California law considers any vehicle with less than 7,500 miles on the odometer when acquired by a California resident or business to be a new vehicle. This holds true whether or not the vehicle has been registered in another state. If you acquire a new vehicle from another state, you may not subsequently drive it to accumulate over 7,500 miles to circumvent the law. DMV cannot accept an application to register the vehicle, and you cannot register or operate the vehicle in California."

The only thing I don't understand about SMOG laws is that you can fail even if you are not putting out any additional pollutants because a part under your hood is too shiney. If they are going to run my car on some rollers and hook it up to a sniffer, it should pass if it is within spec.
My car gets better mileage on the freeway with my chip vs stock mode. The problem is that if I'm mashing the throttle it uses more fuel than stock.
