Heh, I kid you not!

So there's this car at my school... a rabbit at saddleback... and my friend and i were checking it out after we did our lab to see if we can take some parts from it (we were joking) and we open the hood.. and it's all electrical... no engine... 6 battery's were placed in there adn if you looked inside, there were voltages and stuff like that.... It was insane!

Before we opened the hood, I saw on the doors a sticker that had our school name "Saddleback College" and something in the lines of "electical automotive" yada yada yada... can't remmber the rest... Then we pop the hood, and yeah... hehe.. IT WAS FRIKIN' INTERESTING!

Argh.. if only I could take out my old college project car for a spin.

1994-1996 I was in the Cal State Long Beach Electric Porsche project.
We went so far as to get the chassis SCCA certified and ran a couple SCCA Electrics events down at Firebird Raceway in Arizona.

I'll see if I can dig out some pics of the car... and of me learning how to weld and grind :)

yeah, i opened up some random persons hood without permission :\

No, It's saddlebacks project i'm assuming. It was off to the side, we thought it was one of the 35 "junk" cars they own there.

With the way electric prices are rising it will be just as expensive to have an electric car as it would to have a gas car... When will it end...

That car was built i think about 6 years ago, i took a ride in it when it was done, its really quick too, and it origionally had a "FARFROMSMOGEN" sticker on the windshield. I thought the best part was when you open the fuel door their is an extension cord to charge it with.

Nah, you could steal electricity! depending on the plug, if its just a normal outlet, slide the wire to someone elses socket!

There was a MK-I Scirocco that was built by Kearny HS that was all electric as well. It ran in some races and I think got 3rd at Firebird. Not sure. it was Maroon & white as I recall. Seen it at the Del Mar Fair one year many moons ago.
Wish I knew what happened to that car. They had alot of components donated from General Atomic. ;)
