Greetings.

Just another n00b checking in. I won't be out in Southern California until about April of 2007, but I wanted to do a little recon before I get there.

Looking to buy (for my 2002 A4 1.8TQM):
K04
Milltek Cat Back
GIAC ECU Flash / bigger injectors
Drop in panel filter (BMC or something)

My question to those in the Southern California area is this: Are the above upgrades CARB legal? Has anyone done them and passed emissions? Because if so, I can get the work done up in my neck of the woods before I get there (I hate waiting).

I noticed a lot of people that post newbie threads are lacking pictures. As far as my pictures, all I really have are older cellphone pics. I realize they're pretty poor quality, but when you're spending all of your $$ on your car, a digital cam is pretty low on the priority list! That, and 1024x800 and <150kb really limit picture quality on here.

Anyways, bought the car with 27,000 miles on it in April of 06, its a CPO '02 Quattro (build date 01/02) with the Sport & Premium packages and a 5 spd (if ever in automotive history there was a car that needs a more overdriven 5th gear, it's this one...).

Bone stock for now, with the exception of a few ricer things like a European front license plate and dealership frame I got when I was in Germany, and a Audi of Santa Monica rear plate frame I got while helping my best friend move from Maine to Los Angeles this past January.

The other vehicles in the "fleet" pic are (L to R): 1992 Volvo 740 turbo winter beater, the Audi of course, 2000 Kawasaki ZR7 (foreground), 1989 Volvo 740 turbo project car.

I'll only be taking the Audi and maybe the Kawasaki out to California with me initially. If my buddy and I can score garage space, we'll be bringing my 1989 Volvo and probably his 1990 Saab SPG out, but this is all long-run type stuff, nothing immediate.

While I may be a rookie to Audi's, I've been doing Volvo's and Honda's since the late 1990's. I'm very well versed in RWD Volvo upgrades, maintenance and repair, Honda maintenance and stock part replacement, and I have on occasion dabbled in the Classic Saab 900 maintenance / repair world... but those occasions involved lots of help, lots of beer and many subsequent trips to the therapist.

Anyways, hope to contribute to the forum as soon as I get there, and I appreciate any / all comments and feedback. Thanks.

Thanks man. The '89 Volvo has intrax springs, Bilstein HD's, ipd sways and poly bushings, upper and lower chassis braces, TD05H-14b, MVP 2.5" turbo back stainless exhaust (old school), NPR intercooler, 35lb/hr injectors, hi-flo cat, K&N Cone with heat shield, 302mm "big" brakes up front with cadmium rotors, 3 core aluminum radiator, e-code headlights and V90 tails. Waiting to go in is an Australia-only D grind camshaft and 3" turbo back exhaust w/catco hi-flo and straight through magnaflo. Stock boost it'll smoke my Audi... well it would, if I had the oil return line on there.

What kind of wheels are you running on your Avant?
