Okay so I'm interested in purchasing an '83 Rabbit with a 2.0L ABA in it, but I really need a reputable place to check it out tip to tail before I go ahead with the sale. Okay that just rhymed. Anyways, the car is located in Spring Valley and I'd like to find the best shop within a reasonable proximity. Anyone? Bueller?

There is a very reputable VW specific shop in Lemon Grove, the name escapes me right now, but it is directly across the street from Evans Tire and service center. Evan's Tire address is 7289 Broadway, Lemon Grove, CA. The VW shop is directly across the street on the north side of Broadway. The owner does great work and only works on VW's. Well he sometimes sneeks a few other imports in... Anything from aircooled to watercooled dubs. Whether its mk1 or mk4 he can service it at a very reasonable price, he would be able to tell you in a split sec if the car you want to buy is in solid condition.

good to know. I live in SV, and had no clue there were anything but aircooled shops out here.

tight man, if you could get me a name it'd be rad, but if not I'll googleEarth that addy and see if I can read the sign on the building hahaha. You figure hes got experience with engine swaps, because I don't want to go to a shop and have a guy pop the hood and say "Whats a '96 motor doing in an '83 rabbit?"

any luck on that name? Its only like 2 miles away from the sellers house as the crow flies. Do you think i need to make an appointment to have the car looked over or could I just roll by and drop the car off, then kill some time while it gets the OK? I'm thinking about maybe just calling that tire shop and asking them the name of the place accross the street hahaha
