Can anyone with an APR ECU upgrade on a MK4 VR6 24v tell me if this is a good move? I have been searching for the best bang for the buck.

GIAC gives 8horseys with 12 fptq - Thats fairly good for 300 bucks installed.

Neuspeed gives around the same with less torque at 8 ponies and 10 fptq. This would be my last choice

APR is defiantly topping my list now, reportadly giving out 16 hp at 18-20 fptq for $500 bucks.

Now I know that this is not like you turbo'd up cars with outrageous amounts of gain on a $400 chip. but this is as good as it gets right here for us VR6'ers. Actually I'm quite contempt on these gains. So if anyone has this chip from APR then please fill me in... Thnx!

Your best bet would be to get a set of street cams to go along with that chip.

That seems like really high gains from that APR chip. I almost can't imagine it pulling those numbers stock

I put autotech 262 cams in my 12v and it really smoothed out the power.

still doubt that kind of power from a chip.

Superchips or whoever claimed they could pull 30hp on my motor (24v)....I called BS on them.

But its just 16hp... I am getting it verified by Al at Group5 now.

Since my engine is a little bigger, wouldnt I want to go 264?

don't just look at the peak horsepower, look at the usable horsepower.

LOL - your engine isn't any bigger than a 12V, it's still a 2.8L.

For cams, take a look at the 264/260 set from Techtonics... They're $800 and you get a $40 discount if you mention VW Vortex.

Just realize that you won't get much more than 200whp out of a 24V unless you go FI.

So your saying I put 264/260 cams...port and polish and chip it all I'll get is 16hp and 17tq? I'm sorry I just cant believe that one. I'm at 182hp 183tq right now with the intake and exhaust.
