Electronics were not banned. Just fluids, gels, etc. You should be fine taking those items.

Should be OK. My friend just flew from Helsinki (Finland) to New York (JFK) and the laptop was okay. Only liquids were forbidden.

What I heard was that all electronics...including ipods, laptops, cameras, etc. were all banned for about that first week afterwards.
Good to hear we are back on track for in flight entertainment. :)

I just got back from Cancun and was able to bring my camera stuff in my backpack
Banned stuff is like drinks, food is okay.
No gels, so leave your pink lip gloss in your check baggage, I know it's a long flight, but you can bring your pink chapstick on.
Anything that looks like a liquid cann't be brought. Insulin is okay, and prescription drugs must have your name on it. Salene solution for contacts is okay, but there is alimit to how much can go on the plane with you, and I know it's not much.
I think that's it though.
Also, if you are flying in from another county, if it is not a direct flight and you land in the us (example, from cancun we went to dallas, then to SFO) You have to go through customs with all of your checked bags and then give them back to the airline to transfer to your next connecting flight (be prapared for the hassle) And in this case, we brought back Tequila, which we were allowed to carry on the plane because in Mexico, they carry it to the plane for you and you pick it up at the end of the tunnel to get on the plane. When you land in the sates, do not leave the secured area. If you do, like I did, I went back through security and they made me check my tequila. All my checked baggage was at another terminal, and I had nothing to put it in. So 4 bottles of tequila had to be checked in a plastic bag with no padding. Lickuly it survived, but, it still sucked. So if you stay in the secure areas, you don't go through security again, so you can keep the liquids that were checked in securley in another country. Just an FYI!

you will be fine, i brought my electronics bag from ireland to cananda to the states RIGHT after the initial liquids scare.... what was in my bag? 20D, multiple lenses, external flash, tons of batteries, memory cards, ipod, macbook, sd450, cellphone, power adaptors, several books, etc.... there was NO way that bag was going under the plane. i didn't get hassled about it once.

here is the T.S.A. list of items you can and cannot take... http://www.tsa.gov/travelers/airtravel/prohibited/permitted-prohibited-items.shtm
Some of the stuff doesn't make sence. Like you can take a screwdriver or other tools as long as they are under 7 inches? I dont understand that one.

what they are saying is....you can take apart the plane mid-flight...but you are gonna knock your knuckles while doing it.
probably to not discriminate against screwdrivers for eye glasses.
but thanks for that link...thats the one i was referring to.

Ohhh . . . good story, I flew to San Diego a couple of weeks ago so I put my pocket knife in my little smuggler and had planned on checking it, but was running late. So I carried it on and forgot about the knife. . . . You guessed it, it went through the x-ray machine, and everything, no problem, walked right on the plane with it.
GO TSA!!! Why wuold we want the law enforcement rejects and wanna-be's to be in charge of our pre flight security? No offense to you anyone that really works for TSA . . . but if you do work for them, you probably have some co-workers that fit my description!!

Back in April I was forced to put my water, that I was drinking out of, throught the xray machine. clear bottle, opaque lid, label removed, barely any left.

The best is even after you go through security and buy a water at starbucks or something, you still can't bring it on the plane. What kind of message are they trying to send . . . we can't trust our employees either. That window licker at mcdonalds can't get me an egg mcmuffin, but might be able to supply me with the chemicals I need to add to my 1 bottle of visene alloted, and now I can go create havoc in the lavatory by using it to disable the smoke detector. Then I can flush a bunch of material other then toilet paper to cause a leak in the toilet that will cause emminent danger to all the passengers on my flight. Then if I have some spare time, during the night flight, I will run through the cabin screaming and hitting all the attendant call buttons along the way!!!
Therefore forcing a sky marshall to open fire on me mid flight. Creating a barrage of screams and cries from all the passengers as the bullets pierce the cabin, decreasing its pressure and cause all those stupis plastic cups to fall from the ceiling. While the only people injured will be the geriatrics from all the excitement, I will have successfully cause terror, by doing so, all employees will be replace with robots, and visene will no longer be allowed on flight, causing a decrease in revenue for larger airports that rely on consumables to fund their expensive architectural masterpieces. Causing the age of flight to fall to it's knees, and civilization as we know it will revert o the train as it's main source of domestic tranportation.

I want to see a flight attendant use those masks during the safety brief as one of those old school phones. You know how you tie a string to a can and talk to each other!! I always thought that would classic.
"On top of being an in expensive breathing apperatus, you can also use this mask as a 2 way communication between friends. Just place opening aroud your ear and have your friend say something. So increase volume pull the string on either side of the cheap yellow tupperware"

I flew from seattle 2 weeks ago. The standard disclaimer for film (undeveloped film with an ISO higher than 400 might be jacked up) still applies. But other than that, you're good.
I'm leaving tomorrow for NJ for a week, i'm planning to take all of my camera gear on the plane.

Okay Seriously . . .
I went to the airport and was forced to throw a way my water. So I bought another one at the airport, and was forced to throw it away before I got on the plane because they searched my bags again.
Couldn't I have kept my original water and only wasted a little cash.
Does the NSA have a deal with the airport to help promote purchases after the security gate?

i went through the seattle gate blatently ignoring the water warning, and they told me i'd have to throw it away before i got on the plane. I said i'd drink it before then, they said it was fine.
i easily could have thrown it in my backpack and they would have never known.
I just flew to NJ (i'm in NJ now) and had 2 carry-ons. 1 was a backpack with my laptop and a bunch of magazines, the other was a camera bag with a bunch of lenses.
they double x-ray'd my laptop (which i put in a second bin). Which is lame. But whatever.
