I've got a 20th AE GTI.
I barely use my a/c, and I only use it when it's extremely hot and when I've got other people in the car. So I've been thinking of removing the a/c from the car altogether to free up some power so the car would run better... but is it worth it???
Other than getting a shorter belt, which I don't even know where to get that at, what else would I have to do/get?
thanks for any input:tup:

I looked into it... its not terribly worth it. The only real savings your getting is the weight of the compressor and all that. Just don't turn your A/C on when you are driving hard.
Another thing to mention... I rarely use my A/C and now my compressor makes a grip of noise. Moral of the story is use it or lose it.
If I were you, I would use my A/C every so often during the week and just turn it off for tearing up the track. It will preserve your A/C and the value of your vehicle.
