Wont pass visual SMOG because of header and timing gear.
Like the post says, can adjust values depending on what parts you may not want.

Be prepared to search for a good Mk2 for months. They are old and many of them have been beat on pretty good. Just know what the "usual" problems are and what they are really worth. Best of luck!
And I have an Mk2 Bently for sale if anyone wants one...like new...$30...

yea talked to you via e-mail, only thing holding me back is the really hack rattle can job.....
I actually wouldn't mind a flat black job but that looks really bad..... I'd end up respraying and that is probably out of my bundget @ $1500 to start. Pm me if you think we can work on the price (have cash in hand!)
You could team up with the MK2 jetta coupe at the shows and have TWO VW chalk boards..........................

No worries, the small oil leak (like a couple drops a day maybe) is typical for crappy mk2 distributors (3rd one i have gone through, next time buying new).
The SMOG, well not much i can do on that one. Any reputable shop will fail imediatly for visual once they saw the timing gear and heade ron the car.
I know some people but no sense in me smogging then selling it and them smogging it again, but it something i can work with with a buyer. When i bought it it passed SMOG once i put a new cat in, but that was before i did all the engine modding.
yeah and salvage, nothing i can do about that.
Good luck

I was thinking about sending it to Maaco for a quick spray back to the original color. If I do, I would need to raise the price.
But, I can paint as well, so if you want it in satin black or any other color we may be able to work something out. I could also spray a quick primer black over whats already there, but materials can be expensive.
Price is negotiable as well.
Cheers, Travis

MK2's come in 2 forms, and 2 price
1 form is ready to drive and go
priced according, from $2500 on up depending on condition and mods, all the way up to $4500 range ... and all the way up to $6000 range with motor swaps
other forms, require a lot of love
most are in this form, go from $500-1500 range
also this form ends up turning into the prior form ;)

I'm looking for a $1500-$2500 somewhat dependable smog ready car. Paint doesn't ahve to be perfect by any means hell I'll even take a flat black or OD green car :) kinda my style.
But Title needs to be clean, up to date reg, and smog ready.
I don't think my budget is too low for what I'm asking for just haven't found the right car yet

I think $1500-$2500 can get you a pretty clean one to start off with
I'd expect that with that price range, most of the major nick nacks were taken care of and ready to go as a daily driver
;) good luck man ... they aint easy to find in perfect running order
i got mine from GTIcrazy, and i was lucky cuz he took awesome care of it, even then, there were still couple nick nacks that needed to be done

:) nich nacks are kewl one reason I want to get this car is to explore and learn more. I want to tinker and play with a car liek I used to (when I had other modes of transport if it was broken) can't go pulling the trans out of the 337 now can I unless I walk to walk to work :p
So I am just hoping to find a pretty clean car to play with and maybe someday dig deep into just for shits and giggles

My MKII Jetta is ready to run and drive for another 200,000 miles.
The paint sucks, and she will smog, clean title and up to date registration. I haven't put it in my name yet, as I never planned on keeping it when I bought it, I just wanted the Aero headlights instead of rounds.
Gave it a tune up and replaced the blown out suspension with brand new Weitec's. I would paint it but money is tight, and if I do paint it would mean I have to wait a few weeks before I could put it up for sale.
I would rather sell it to someone that has the time and money to get her back to her glory days.
She used to look like this:

I need at least $1500 now. I just put a 16V grill w/ black badge in it cause the old grill broke when I opened the hood. I haven't hooked up the inners though.
I can't do any trades. Car will come with an extra set of rear spindles and drum's. The slave cyclinder in the passenger rear drum is leaking. I can fix it or you can with the parts I will provide.
Car is on camber shims out back. Has an aircooled look to it. I also wound down the coils, so its about an inch lower.
Need this thing gone asap. If someone gives me $1800, I will throw in a Euro Big bumper kit, with smoked or clear turns.
I work at TZ, so, if there is a certain look you want for the car, and I have it in stock, I can add it to the price of the car at my cost.
Just need to get it sold.
Cheers, Travis
