View Full Version : Why you should never race (or attempt to) on the streets!

My brother calls me this morning (this is the brother that got two tickets in my car on the same day within an hour, spun out while taking a turn too hard on a street on his hatchback, and had my car stolen at fashion valley just back in may) so hes sounds all freaked out on his phone and I'm like what happened now!!

He begins to tell me that a new S2000 with dealer plates with some nice aftermarket wheels on it, pulls up next to him on east bound 94 heading towards rancho san diego, and that when the s2k hears the blow off valve on the GLI, he pulls up next to him and wants to race him. My brother said he did not want to race so he just keeps going the normal speed.

The sk2 does a series of pulls on the GLI to make him want to race, he tells me this happens for like 5 miles. He then tells me that they are coming up on the intersection in rancho san diego where the 94 turns into jamacha road and if you make a right turn you go towards jamul and if you go straight you go to cuyamaca college. The sk2 gave the peace sign to my brother ( I personally think he gave him the finger, but that is neither here nor there) and he took the right turn towards jamul really hard and my brother said the back tires lost traction and the car spun out onto the center divide almost hitting oncoming traffic.

The drivers side of the sk2 was all jacked up and the wheels on the drivers side where cracked in half, and his bumper was in the middle of the road. I'll ask my brother if he took picktures, but someone has a lot of explaining to do to their insurance company

Never race on the street, its never worth it!!

My brother said he got out of his car after pulling over and saw the Sk2 driver kicking his own car in the front where the bumper was missing and he was yelling and cusing himself out.....

I think my brothers bad karma has been passed on to someone else. Everyone has to learn the hard way i guess.

And people wonder why we lock street racing threads...

At least no one was hurt. Thats an expensive lesson to learn but it could have been much worse.

I never get anyone rubbing on me anymore. I guess it's cuzz I have a Rabbit now, and it's not as fast as the GTI's. I used to get a lot of ricers wanting to race me when I had my R6. If I would have seen that guy mess up like that, I would have slowed down and clapped at him. Hope everyone was ok.

im in the other boat (i now drive a honda). about 2 weeks ago going down on poway road from the 15 to pomerado.

the entire time some primered mki gti with "civic kills" on the fender and a bunch of hatch marks to show how many he'd taken out decided to try and do pulls on me....from the 15...all the way to pomerado....idiot i just kept it on cruise for 45:p he cut me off when the 2 lanes merge into one around the presbyterian church. i still get looks and people always wanting to race, wtf just because i have a civic doesnt mean im a shithead:tup:

theres those who tune cars with respect to the law and other people:tup:(or at least respect to other people)...and theres the the douchefags who rice thier cars because theyre shitheads:tdown:

:(

today after i got off work, a retard in a GT Mustang behind me with "STANGPEDE" on the windshield crosses over the solid yellow line separating our lane and that of the opposing traffic, and drives up next to me trying to look like a badass (he's driving in the WRONG lane that would be going AGAINST traffic and we're driving in HILLS...) he's obviously wanting to race and i'm like WTF... he cuts me off right before a stop sign with literally centimeters between our cars and slams on his brakes... i was one disgruntled mofo...

Up here, a civic did the ricer fly-by on my friend's R32 ... then had to swerve to avoid a stopped car, slammed into the center divider and bounced back into traffic ... car wasn't damaged much tho, dammit.

I just laugh at them and let them speed off, street racing is too risky, gives us bad names as car enthusiasts. Reasons for getting the evil eye by cops, ins. companies and such.

As far as the Jackhole in the S2K, If it was new, hopefully he found time to get it covered by insurance between races

I don't know about you guys, but if someone did that to me for 5 miles and he ended up crashing his own car...I'd pull over, laugh my ass off at him, wait for the cops, report what he has done, call his insurance company to tell them the truth for him, laugh some more, then leave

You guys are so funny, you take this guys brother story to be absolute fact LOL, remember this guy got two speeding tickets in one hour LMAO. First of my car is an 2001 so Im not sure what the dealer plate thing is all about. And I saw your brothers blue GLI Jetta at the jamacha Blvd light and he was 4 cars ahead of me at that point he started swerving in and out of traffic I in fact I was never even next to him 5 miles what a joke Jamacha Blvd to campo is about a 1/2 mile. It was dumb on my part and I did get lucky however I wasnt even racing him because it is not even worth my time, HIs car would get smoked.http://www.socaleuro.com/gallery/files/13820-mycarmotor.jpgThe curb did in fact rip off my chin spoiler but that is it, all I needed was an allignment.

You went buy and saw a lot of debris on the road :ha: You guys are good story tellers. Cracked in half rims whole side of car messed up well that is news to me I drove to work with no problems and my car looks exactly the same. I think you need to have a come to Jesus meeting with your brother because he is spinning the story to you because he has made a lot of stupid choices in the past and doesnt want you to think he is still driving like that, well he is, I was trying to pull on him for 5 miles heeheeheee how funny.

i like how under his profile for car it says "It will smoke you fools" - well maybe in the line but its obvious we can lose ya on a quick turn. Keep your safety belt buckled, yellow=very too fast. Plus, just like you have an sc, anybody here with a turbo upgrade or big mod like yours will probably take you out so dont get too comfy/cocky.

I like s2k's but its a shame they can lose control the way they do

Here's what I gather so far...

Robvel's brother is a known clown.

S2000 guy is a clown too.

I really don't care about the details beyond that. Point here is that street racing is bad and next time it might be more than just a chin spoiler.

Agreed. Might I add that this guy is a chode. He acts like it and therefore he is. Oh, btw, don't you know? In the JDM world, loud color adds 20 hp so yellow is around + 19.5-19.6 hp, and stickers are like +5 hp a piece. So watch out.

er....so u make 222hp to the wheels now? isnt that kinda weak for a vortech or did you just mistype it?

sandiegobmx
09-19-2006, 09:48 PM
22rwhp = 22 rear wheel horsepower.

Honda, how much does it put down? Out of curiousity...

benno
09-20-2006, 09:45 AM
oh...i was guessing that the usual hp for a s2k would be 240hp to the crank...minus the usual on or about 40hp lost to the wheels would equal to about 200whp. Then I didn't read where it stated that they were talking about 22rwhp extra due to the yellow paint equaling to 222rwhp. =P

dynod 367 rwhp .
