Ok, so I traded in the Jetta and now have a New truck. I was looking at the different software out there and came across some info. This below is from the Jet performance web page. Here is the actual link http://www.jetchip.com/faq.asp but what you will be interested in has been pasted.

Will JET Performance tuning void my warranty?

No. Federal law prohibits a dealer from voiding your warranty just because you are using aftermarket speed equipment, with only two exceptions: the warranty can be voided if the aftermarket part causes damage or adversely affects the emissions or the emissions system. In recent documents produced by the SEMA (Specialty Equipment Market Association), a trade association-representing specialty automotive parts manufacturers, and the following quotes have been extracted:

"The vehicle manufacturer is not allowed to void the vehicle warranty just because aftermarket equipment is installed on the vehicle. This protection for consumers is the result of a parts self-certification program developed by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA).

"Under the program, if a parts maker completes the EPA process of self-certifying its parts, the vehicle manufacturer cannot void the warranty even if the certified part has failed and is directly responsible for the warranty claim. In cases where such a failed aftermarket part is responsible for a warranty claim, the manufacturer must arrange a settlement with the part manufacturer, but the new vehicle warrant is not void under the law.

"If the failure to honor a claim involves the new-vehicle warranty, and it appears that the manufacturer is improperly denying a claim, the incident should be reported to the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). The FTC is responsible for monitoring compliance with the warranty law; the agency's telephone number is 202/326-3128." For more information see SEMA's website at www.sema.org (http://www.sema.org/).

RAM ROD!

The not being able to void your warranty thing comes up alot. Its true that the manufacturer cannot void your warranty for using aftermarket parts but if you put in a chip that causes unnecessary wear and tear on the engine they don't have to cover things that break as a result.

People can and do fight warranty void claims with their dealers and they win. You just have to be ready, especially with a chip that really changes everything about how your engine runs, to explain how it was not responsible for breaking whatever they didn't warranty. The thing is always that they can afford more lawyer than you can so most people just roll over.

yeah, a lot of dealers are getting as smart as the person modding. Sure they cant void your warranty but they can refuse to service your car. Since a lot of the dealers are run by the same people they easily just put you in the system and refuse service your car at all locations.

Whoa that is some crazy sheit. I have never heard of that one.

No RAMROD. I now have an 06 Silverado. 5,000 bucks in factory rebates sealed the deal. I ordered my Exhaust about two hours ago and will pick it up tomorrow during lunch and have it installed before dinner. Now i'm looking for a Plug and play. That way I can set it back to factory when it gets serviced.

FWIW, the JET chips produced even LESS on my GM B-Body. Others have reported WORSE drivability.

So you might want to look into what other folks have written on their reviews before committing to any chips.

Just so that you guys know...Jet doesnt know how to chip your ecu's. If they claim that they do, they are outsourcing it. And there is a good chance that if you were to open the ecu and compare to another...most likely you are just paying for them to put a sticker on your ecu.
