Well,
Most seem to be pretty well spread through the Socal Region. I am looking at going to school in the Fall of 2007 and I am looking at the possibility of staying in Socal and not going to NY. The 2 schools I am looking at are USC and CSU San Marcos.
Does anybody have any advice on good places to look for a place in these areas? I might even be looking to buy a Condo if the price is right, because not many places allow 100lbs dogs.
I'm hoping to stay in the 1300-2200/mo range. I don't know exaclty where I need to be yet because a lot of deciding factors have yet to play out.
TIA

USC and CSUSM? kinda odd couple to pair up? If you can get into USC why would you think of going to CSUSM.....? if you ever been to USC you find that once you step off campus your kinda in the ghetto, CSUSM has plenty of condos or apartments in the price range your looking for.

You know, I think I have figured it out. I have been looking and I think I am going to stay in base houseing. I didn't know I can do that but I have been spending all morning looking this stuff up.
USC and CSUSM both have programs that I am interested in. I think I am going to go with CSUSM. I wouldn't mind running track for USC but I am not digging the relocation to that region, or the commute.

There is base housing in Seal Beach just in case you want to attend USC. USC is 35 min away from housing

If you can get into USC, I say go for it. Sure, it might be in the ghetto, but a degree from USC is much more valuable than from CSUSM. Don't get me wrong, CSUSM is a great school, I got my BA and I'm working on my MA there. But, universities and departments are ranked. So, make sure you choose your school according to what really matters... ability to get in and its worth in the marketplace.
Were you accepted into the MESEP (?) program? How are you able to live in base housing?

I am home on leave. I was at the Go kart gtg on Sat too. I head back to the sand on the 28th.
The MECEP board is convening right now and the results should be out in a couple weeks. I am just trying to figure things out.
I called housing and they said if I am already in housing, and my school is in the area I can just stay in base housing. A guy from my buddies platoon did the same. He started school this year.
I will look more into USC but I don't think I can try and get into housing at Seal beach b/c of MECEP.
If I went to NY it would be in the City. Living in the BX (got family there) and going to school in Manhattan (Fordham)

If you are going to be using base housing, and you decide on USC, you may want to check out Fort McArthur in San Pedro. It would be an easier drive to SC than Seal Beach. I don't know what the situation is there, but I know it is still open.

What about SDSU?

What about SDSU?
I am still looking at SDSU too, their website was not working for me yesterday so I didn't get a look at their undergrad programs.
If I can stay living in the OC area I will. Unless the wife finds a job elsewhere but she is getting pretty good money where she is at and we are established here. I also have to choose what is feasable. I have to make sure I can afford the choice I make
I am looking at Buisness management with a focus in High-Tech systems. Kinda like Buis Admin with a focus on IT or something. Before the MC I was going to college to get my Civil engineering degree focused on structural engineering. That course is interesting me at USC. I just don't wanna jump into a major that will have me go bald by the time I finish. I will be doing the NROTC thing at the same time.
