So yesterday me and the other one (TinyTolo) was cruising through Pendleton chasing down his Captain's laptop that they asked him to bring back with him to Iraq. We spent a good portion of his last day here in the states trying to get this laptop so that alone was upsetting enough cause he was on leave. As if that wasn't enough we get pulled over by the Military Police and the dude told us we had to remove our EuroPlate. Mind you I've had this plate for a while now getting in and out of Pendleton and Miramar with NO hassle at the gate so to be randomly pulled over for it was upsetting. Then he tells us to roll up our windows a little and gives us shit about our tint. Then he made us wait for his buddy to show up who apparently had a tint reader type machine and we came in at 32%. He told us our back tints were too dark as well (5% is what we got I believe). So he gave us this whole speech about how much it will add up if we don't fix our stuff....but he let us off. My question is should I fix the tint? Or screw it and just leave it?

i think he was just an mp with some sand in his vagina :p

i say leave it too! mp's are pricks, not all of them are, but most are.
i've seen a BMW X5 rolling around Miramar with just a euro plate and that's it, no CA plates, nothin but a euro plate, i've seen other cars rolling around with probably darker tint than you, so that mp was probably just going on a power trip or something.

I wouldn't sweat it. Don't you have another non-modded car you can take on base?

it's called a luminoscity meter. It can measure percentage. it does exist.

From CA DMV Site:
Can I put after-market tinting on the windows of my vehicle?

The main requirements for legal window tinting in California are:

1. The windshield and front driver's side and passenger's side windows cannot receive any aftermarket tinting.
2. If the rear window of a vehicle is tinted, the vehicle must have outside rearview mirrors on both sides.

The law prohibits any person from driving any motor vehicle with any object or material placed, displayed, installed, affixed, or applied upon the windshield or side or rear windows, with certain limited exceptions.

However, legislation signed into law effective January 1, 1999, exempts from the above prohibition specified clear, colorless, and transparent material that is installed, affixed, or applied to the front driver and passenger side windows for the specific purpose of reducing ultraviolet rays. If, as, or when this material becomes torn, bubbled or otherwise worn, it must be removed or replaced.

more extensive law here:
http://home.pcisys.net/~bpc/auto_law/tint/tint_ca.html

basically says that any tint can't be less than 35%, and colorless UV tint can't be less than 88%. But I'm no lawyer or police officer, and this information isn't on a .ca.gov site, so double check it.

We live on base :( but I'm never around that area (Main Side) much anyhow. I took off my europlate cause if he spots me again he'll remember. It was just no bueno.....I think I'm gonna leave the tint.

as far as i can remember, military installations (air force at least) don't have limits set on things like tint.. they follow local law when it comes to that

Your best bet is Take off the euro. Leave the tint. Marines have bad days and go out just to fuck with people. Someone pissed them off so they need to piss someone else off. Yea it is bull shit but it is the little man syndrome. Ever notice how the real big ass hole marines on base are short? Yea that is because they got their ass kicked to much in high school.

As for what tpotp said MIRAMAR is a lot diferent than Pendleton. MIRAMAR is wing so everything is laid back. Pendleton on the other hand is not. They take the Marine Corps a little more seriously.

IIRC none of that is verified during the vehicle inspection prior to being issued a DOD decal. Most of the time the MPs are from out of state anyhow and are not versed in the local vehicle codes. Leave the tint and don't worry about the Euro plate since the incident happened in Mainside and you are up North.

If he let you off the hook, then they didn't enter it into the PMO tracking system for future reference...
