you can go online, access e-mail, use AIM, Yahoo messenger, MSN messenger, portable navigation (Tom Tom), oh yeah and phone calls too.

Not to thread jack, but I'm using the 8700c right now and I was looking for the AIM program for it.

Anyone have any advice on which is the best?

Use Ramble IM , its designed specifically for the blackberry, and uses data instead of SMS (text messages)

yes you get charged, but usually you get a data package. navigating uses the scroll wheel located on the side of the unit.
