So the story behind this picture . . .
I'm down in Puerto Rico this last weekend and We drove by this rental place. Curious, I had to check it out. So I walked in a talked to one of the son of the owner. I guess it has been family owned since early 1960. I mentioned that there must be some kind of lawsuit going on with the Target brand name retail store. He explained when his father created this place, he registered the name and symbol in Puerto Rico not thinking of the United States at the time. Target (US) did not register in Puerto Rico, so they could not do anything about it either.
Currently Target is still making offers to buy their name back in Puerto Rico. The Rental place is asking for 10 Million dollars. So far Target has not agreed, but he said that his family will not budge from that amount. He say's, theyll pay it, sooner or later!
So as far fetched as it sounded, it seemed believable. If their was some kind of lawsuit, why would target not be able to win over this mom and pop car rental location. On top of that, the major defining evidence. There are Walmarts, Walgreens, and Sears, but not a single Target in Puerto Rico!! Until they pay, I guess no Targets in Puerto Rico, since they don't own the name there!!
Thought I'd share that interesting story with all of you!!
