My Mother-in-law has a 2000 XC and wants to add some form of MP3 player/Ipod.

The car came with the cassette deck that controls the changer.

What are the options for introducing the player into the system?

And what are some high traffic Volvo sites for me to check out?

Thanks, Bryan

Bryan,

ATM as far as I know, you have basically 2 choices. The tape that has the mini stereo jack that plays whatever you want through it or an FM modulator.

You could always buy a new headunit that has a aux in

I went with a FM transmitter in my car and have been very happy with it. I went with a high end cigarette lighter plug in one and the quality is great

Yeah, aside from changing the deck, the best option is going with an FM tansmitter. Monster Cable makes a pretty descent one.

Or you can see if this PhatNoise adapter would work!!

I used to use the FM Modulator for mine, but it never worked that well. I had my iPod hardwired in. There are adapters for the back of the factory headunits that allow digital connection as well as for your iPod to charge while in the car. I had StreetNoyz do it, so you could always check with Paul or Skip and see if there is an adapter for her car. The quality is night and day between hardwiring the iPod and using the other methods.

FM mods are cool, but not the best for sound quality, if your using a normal factory stereo, FM is fine

but if you got an updated sound system, definitely look for a hardwired adapter setup

Thanks guys. Looks like the Dice, or Icelink seems like the best option for SQ and integration.

I'll probably get all the parts and do the install over Xmas as the car is in SF>

Thanks, Bryan
