Im looking to spend about $250-300 on a digital camera, preferably with a zooming ability, wether it was last years edition or not, isnt a big deal. I would also like it to take some quality photo's i had a cannon digital elph sd400 and i liked the photo's it produced very much, however it lacked zoom features, so im looking for maybe a advance point and shoot camera, i would also like to get some input on places to look, cameras people have and maybe some sample shots from the camera, opinions etc..
thanks in advance.

edit: also preferable something somewhat durable due to the fact it will be doing some traveling.
the #x zoom is junk... don't buy a camera just because it has 10x zoom, all that means is that the largest magnification of the lens is 10x that of the shortest (widest). For example 10-100mm = 10x zoom. 100mm still doesn't give you a whole lot of reach that is if the zoom you're referencing is in regards to telephoto or taking photos of far objects in larger size.
300 isn't going to get you a new advanced P&S at least not from what I have seen but I haven't been in the market lately so I'm not 100% sure where the price point is for something with say 150mm+ zoom capability.

im not looking to go crazy, im not looking for a slr, but something that can take clean crisp photos and have enough zoom for daily use, i can always add some money to it but that the base, or thats the limit from the family(for a christmas gift).
what are some of the good camera review sites?

Panasonic Lumix DMC-FZ5 or DMC-FZ7. 12x Leica zoom lens (36-432mm 35mm equiv.). Not junk. Very far from it. I'd go for the FZ5, personally -- unless you really need 7mp over 5mp.

If this is in your price range . . . I second that!! I especially love how canon has a swivel screen. Great for taking pictures of yourself, as well as protecting the lcd during travel!! I have the PSPRO1 which I think is a higher end PS, annd I love it!!! It takes great pics, but I think it isn't withing your price range (around $600 used)

I wanna get a similar camera here so ima jump into your thread and hopefully get more responses for us... is 249.99 a good price for a Panasonic FZ20K? I do amatuer photography for my car group and need a ddecent camera. Nothing crazy...
Also how about 749.00 a good price for a Olympus DSLR w/ 14-45mm lens? They sell these at my school and I could use left over financial aid money to buy it...

The FZ20 has many fans in the Panasonic forum.
Which Oly are you talking about, the E-1? The E-1 is an amazing professional series dSLR (the 14-45mm lens is excellent, though the original 14-54mm lens, now rare, is more coveted). It's weather-sealed (take pictures in the rain, it won't care) and the CCD has the ultrasonic cleaner (no need to wipe dust off when switching lenses). It's a large beast and quite heavy for dSLRs, so you'd have to be pretty serious about photography; however the digital-specific 4:3 lenses are comparably smaller and lighter than Nikon/Canon glass, which remain designed for 35mm applications.

I didn't bring any cameras to your halloween party. I think Michelle brought it (mikes cousin). The one i'm waiting for in the mail is this one:

More info on it http://www.dcresource.com/reviews/panasonic/dmc_fz20-review/index.shtml And yea Jesse we will be able to take some nice shots soon. Mikey finished making his camera mount for the car. Video taping canyon runs? YES!
