My of-age little brother is coming to town and wants to peep the scene.
Give me some bars, considering the following parameters:
San Diego/North County Area
NOT FSKING PB - Not in the mood to get robbed, killed, beat up, or touched by sex-change candidates
Chill
Beer-oriented
Pool tables, maybe?
Not too high priced
Cougar-friendly a plus
Rep points for all replies! Whee!!!
PS: I'm not big into bars here because I had my fill going to college in Louisiana. yeesh... :D

Your best bet,
buy a case of your favorite beer,
sit at home, get shitnecked,
hop on Craigslist, order a cougar,
wake up in your own bed.
No taxi's
No TRANNIES
No fights
No high prices
Paypal me $5 for my time.

I have hit a few bars in Solana Beach which have been pretty fun. Surf and Saddle is pretty cool as well as this sports bar right on the 101 which I forget the name of. it is right across from the Amtrak stop though.

San Marcos has some cool little pubs/dives... Churchills, Penny Lane (dart-board), or the 55 Yard Line (pool tables) are all on San Marcos Blvd with decent prices (you can get two whiskey sours at the 55 for $5). Grappa's near campus is chill, and has a great wine list. The Blvd. has live DJ's that play drum n bass, house, etc.
Have funsies!

Not Jimmy O's as this place is literally right across the street from the Lomas Sante Fe Amtrak stop. Cool pub food and a really chill atmosphere. Got some pool tables if you are into that too.

Beer and Pizza visit the Pizza Port, http://www.pizzaport.com/
Beer selection you can't beat the Yard house downtown on 4th and Broadway.
Downtown Johny Browns (downtown in the Civic center plazza), good burgers, a good selection of San Diego area brews. They Have Double Bastard on tap by Stone, 14% alcohol content!

My favoritebeer bars in San Diego are O'Briens & Liars Club. Pizza Port is also excellent, the few times I've been there it's full of loud kids. Pizza is great there too. Yard House has really generic, boring beers. Anyways....
O'Briens Pub
4646 Convoy St, San Diego
Liars Club
3844 Mission Blvd, San Diego
Thursday at O'Briens they have kasks, plenty of good bar food (get the garlic fries) too. They have darts and a bunch of TVs with sports (SOCCER!) playing.
Friday at Liars club is 'Local Pint Night', $2.50 local pints. They also have a kask of something local that night. They also have darts and a pretty damned good music selection. Best thing on the menu, Seared Ahi Burger with Cajon Fries.
Damn, I want some beers now!

(there is one in downtown and another in La Mesa)

I have stumbled out of Churchill's quite a few times. They have a "trivia night" every other Tuesday.....just another reason to compete in some sort of event while consuming alcohol. If you find any place in the Vista area that turns out to be a blast, let me know....I've been looking for a while.

Hahahaha... I thought you meant Cougar friendly as in Cal State San Marcos Cougars, since you're in the North County.

My faves in San Diego are: Hooley's Irish Pub on fifth, and Dussini, where Spaghetti factory used to be (they've got a rad bar), ask for James, he rocks.
