Well the 1.8T is designed to use a diverter valve so switching to a BOV will affect the engine performance because it will not be getting as much air as it's expecting, causing the car to run rich.

What makes you want to put on a BOV? (Please don't say the noise ... )

3 years and running...mine sounds like this

only issue is what john said, running rich, my mpg went down too, about a couple of miles. oh and it cost alot more than a bypass valve.

if you run it in recirc, you are using a diverter valve. all that money on a shiny hks and it sounds like a diverter. actually i had the hks before too. i had it for the sound, but when that got old, i slapped on the recirc kit. it was actually quieter than a normal diverter valve. plus it didn't seem like my engine was too happy with it. so i got rid of it. i've had an hks twice. always got tired of the noise. plus my car started to just die at low speed/low rpm between shifts or letting off the gas.

I even dumped my shiney aftermarket diverter.

That OEM 710N is hard to beat seeing as how you could blow through 3 of them and still be cheaper than an aftermarket BOV or diverter. Then again, I've been running 18+ psi for a long time and I've yet to blow one.

I wouldn't recommend a BOV but its your car. Its not good for it but its not horrible either. You are trading off some performance and some lifetime on your catalytic for a noise that might as well be a cop call.

don't understand why you would sacrafice performance for sound :(

yeah you'd need two or 3 BOV's to handle all that pwr!!!11
