I am not sure about your gauge, but the Autometer I have adjusts itself when you turn the key to "on" without cranking it up. It goes from vacuum to 0 and then back down. You can then turn on the engine.

I went to meeting and figured out it was not the tubing or car, it was simply the gauge. You can not take apart awe gauges. Well I did, kinda ruined the gauge, but it works. The needle slipped down about 10 units on the scale. So I pulled the backing off, pryed off with flatscrewdriver, I pulled the needle off, and re put it at zero. i will check to see if it stays, or I will put a drop of glue in the needle so it can move. The only problem now is there is alittle backilight from the gauge cause it is not fully aligned. Oh well can't tell unless I point it out, hopefully.
