The E39 forums on bimmerfest.com seem to be pretty active. They've had meets before but you'll have to travel up to OC. There hasn't been a E39 specific meet in SD for a couple years.

are there any San Diego E39 folks on this forum? Maybe we should start up an E39 club?

i don't know why just E39's. I mean i can understand from the perspective that your E39 is different from my E36...

SoCalEuro already is a club... and within it are many facets of European cars... Bimmer's, VW's, Audi's, MB's, Porsche's, ect. To be honest, it wouldn't make much sense to have a club specifically with E39's. It would make a little sense, not much. I mean, i can see your point of view and it is very valid... also, there would not be that many of you. hehehe... Besides, you will almost always see the various 'clicks', so-to-speak, at the meets and the get togethers.

You will have your E30 guy's together, and the E36er's in one area, the E46's will be in their little section... and then you will have your E39's in another area. I would love to see every generation of BMW come together... all organized like at Bimmerfest. That would be awesome!!! I would definitely keep an eye out for the GTG's and the Meets.

If you were going to try and start your own little club... i would first get every Bimmer owner involved... let it grow, and then branch off into the different chasis sections.

Personally, i like the variety of SoCalEuro very much. My respect for VW's has definitely grown some... and i've always loved the Audi's and the Porsche's... hehehe, the Mercedes tuners are far an' between... but they are out there. I love to see a Lotus once in awhile. Learning from the other drivers provides a better understanding into the realm of the European Car world that I have grown to enjoy so much. I enjoy the input of the other driver's very much and everybody in SoCalEuro is very respectful of one another.

Well, it's more than just E39 different from E36... there's a certain E36M3 guy that needed a lot of help understanding how to use wheel pins. :p I just don't know how I would feel running with a guy like that...

I agree, I like the diversity of a lot of the clubs out there already, although i haven't made it to a SoCal Euro SD meet yet. But I think there are already a lot of GTG for the diverse groups, bimmerfest, BMWCCA, etc.

I just think sometimes it's nice to have a group that is more focused and share more commonality. I have an E36/7 too, and it's an awesome spectacle to see a nice turn out of the same model at the BMW Z car club. (pictures attached)

My thought was along the same lines for the E39.

Edit: by the way, we love E36M3 folks regardless of their preference for using wheel studs.

Well here's one scheduled for June '07 in Irvine. They're referring to it as WagonFest, however it's open to all makes.

The last time i witnessed a large gathering of E39's was back in '03 at UTC, and even then there were lots of other BMW's. So The E39 folks are out there, you just need to summon them since they are a different type of individual than those that drive E36's, E30's, E46's, etc...

well, what seems to be the most popular thing to do is just make a website of socal(your BMW chassis code).com lol. im just kiddin, or am i? but if you head out to the wednesday meets, you'll notice how usually the different cars will segregate, it isnt a feeling of superiority or anything, people just end up doing it. if i hear anything i'll post it up though

Ummm, well as you can see in the pictures in post #6, the E36/7 is the chasis code for what is otherwise known as the Z3 Roadster. And the E36/8 typically refers to the Z3 Coupe.

I definitely gotta check out the wednesday night GTG. I just wish it wasn't Wednesday... sort of hard to get out there in the middle of the week.

M5 Board is pretty active, and for the most part, they welcome all E39's in the meets.
