Official pics of the Passat R36 have mysteriously appeared on various international auto sites that show the car in full production trim well ahead of its official debut, which is likely to take place in Geneva early next year. And let us be the first to say: hot, hot, hot. Pardon us but we're totally grooving on the Audi R8-like air intakes at the bottom corners of the tweaked front fascia. Yeah, that's right, we said Audi R-like. Clearly the car has new side sills and a new rear skirt to accommodate a pair of large diameter tail pipes. The extra chrome brightwork on the Passat R36 is also a nice touch. Inside the car are deeply bolstered buckets, what appears to be faux stamped aluminum trim, and aluminum pedals. From what we know, the 3.6-liter FSI V6 in this hopped up Passat will produce 296 horsepower that's routed to all four wheels via VW's 4Motion all-wheel drive. Some quick sniks of the DSG transmission should propel the R36, which will be available as either a sedan or wagon, to 60 mph in 5.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph. Phew, never thought we'd say that about a Passat. The car will reportedly debut at the Essen Motor Show in Germany in early December.

Isn't that going to compete with the A4 3.2 S-Line? VW confuses me sometimes.

Price is going to be a huge determining factor on it. Based on the price of the 3.2 right now this is going to be be north of 40k easily

I wouldn't mind the wagon. Output like the S4, for $15000 cheaper.

Yepp. A fully loaded sport model 3.6L 4-Motion Wagon was at around $38k or $39k when my parents were checking last month. I see this going for around $46k for the wagon with the sedan being a couple thousand cheaper.

I like it. I especially like that the seats don't just have a HUGE .:R logo, instead they have a subtle .:R32 logo that isn't too flashy.
