From what I hear all the Mercedes owners are busy modding their cars. ;)

yeah, i have not seen any real Mercedes-Benz owners who are into modifying their cars much... other than acquiring AMG stuff for their non AMG vehicles, or even just an after market stereo... if they dare modify that. hehehe...

I was just posting to stir things up a little bit..... Nothing wrong with Mercs, I wouild like to have an SL65, but a little out of my budget right now..

And if you know your Merc history, you will know that the head engineer for Mercedes left the company to start the auto Union---hence Audi..

indeed... that's why i asked you if you were serious. you're crazy... good job stirring things up (hehehe...) but i don't think there are many Merc enthusiast's out here except for the really rich people with big budget's who drive Benz's like the SL65. Mann, thinking about it... if i had an SL65, i probably wouldn't enhance it anymore other than suspension mods and audio/video stuff. The SL65 is such a beautiful ride. Although, my heart is set on the new M3 or even the E46 M3 GTR from Germany. hehehe... we definitely need more Merc enthusiasts in SoCalEuro.

It has pink mirrors. How fast can it be?

My mother in law has a C43. It was a pretty limited production deal, and she keeps it in showroom condition. It accellerates painfully quickly. And that's just a small V-8. I can't imagine how quick the new AMGs are.

RollinInGreenz

the C43 makes me happy in my pants. best described as "brutal". that was back in 99. I can't imagine what the SLK55 feels like.

and by "once" i meant "for a period in my life" which was actually inaccurate because i've had two benzos.

And the fun thing about the C43 is that it looks like nothing. You'd never guess it could move like it does, just from looking at it. The suspension could also be desribed as "brutal." That thing is pretty unforgiving on bumps of any size.http://www.carsmart.net/used-cars/Photos/r710555.jpg

Well, for one there isn't really much out on the market for our cars if you really think about it. If you compare BMW vs MB you'll find that there are probably more E46 mods available than all of the MB stuff combined. On top of that, some people including myself, aren't going to buy mods just for the heck of modding. I don't even do that with my Integra. No point in getting tasteless mods.

i know. MB put's out good cars point blank. If i owned one or... *hmm, cough*, could even afford one I probably wouldn't modify it that much either. the AMG's (like the one you own) are a beautiful piece of mechanical engineering. almost like art. i wouldn't do too much either, and never any mods just to mod (performance first), maybe just suspension stuff. nothing too extreme. that's a nice ride, by the way.

I'm glad you see the whole logic when it comes to mods. I like your list of mods on your M3. Pretty similar to what I had on my E36 minus the 3.91 and the sway bars, etc. Has Borla finally changed their exhaust tips? I remember the ones on mine were a little on the dinky side.

thank you. they changed it a little from the older ones. i got the Borla becuase of the mellow presence in tone at idle, then when the throttle is hit you can hear it's agressive stance. At first, i didn't want that loud obnoxious noise (like a Remus or Supersprint), now I could care less... i want it loud and obnoxious. Whatever provides better performance.

however, i have decided on two differnet routes i am going to take as far as my exhaust goes. I need to do more research though. Either I am going to go full Active Autowerkes from the heads on back, or what I really want to do is find a shop that can custom fabricate an exhuast set-up like that of the e46 M3 GTR for my e36 M3. I love the whole appearance of the exhuast coming out the sides of the car. i'll be moving out of SoCal next year so i'm not too worried about it needing to pass Cali's ridiculous smog checks.

Yeah, the Borla was very quiet at idle but sounded nice when you got on it. If loud is your thing then check into the UUC exhaust. I thought that thing was pretty loud. I had the AA Gen II on mine and it was pretty quiet at first but eventually got louder with more mileage. Nowhere as loud as the UUC though. Drop your car off at AA for a turbo kit once you're out of Cali.

Just to clarify here...you don't actually mean that your E320 is now an E36 3-series, do you? because that would be a difficult transformation

In November 1999 I picked up my first new car a 2000 E320. I loved that car.

I think Mercedes makes excellent cars. I am biased though, my very first job at age 15 I worked for a Mercedes Shop and really fell in love with them.
