Today at my work, i was very fortunate enough to test drive the New Lotus Elise. :D fcuking AWsome!!!!!! Powered by a 1.8L engine with 16v's it was a very very fun drive. Even though it might not be the most power producing car, it is very nimble and a blast to rip around corners and such. The suspension on that car is dialed in very nicely. But yeah, even tho its only a 4 banger, the power to weight ratio is great. That car is pretty light. I wish it had TURBO tho! you guys should def try and drive this car. IT IS FUN!!!!! Just thought i'd let you guys know. :p But yeah I was very impressed with the car, now..... i'm really debating whether to pick one up :D ....seeing i can get one for around 30k
Apparently the company i work for is some how affiliated with lotus. :p

well you may think its ugly, but it all changes well you push the ignition and you take it out and really get on it, it sticks better and pulls harder then anything i have ever driven......its like a street legal go kart!

I too was blessed with gettting a chance to ride in this handling machine! Although the power is not overbearing, the car holds its own. The Elise can handle better than 85% of the cars on the road today and for a low $40,000 sports car, I would say that this competes with some of the best handling cars in the $60,000-80,000 range!

LOL... im not all impressed.. I got to track and test one two weeks ago.
It has a nice fun factor.. but it would sux ass to have to daily drive one.
there's also a 2 year waiting list for those. They are built with toyota celica engines, and toyota doesmt want the lotus to out sell the celica, so the lotus is very limited (if u wonder where i get my info.. i work for motortrend :) )

Are you suggesting that Toyota is deliberately suppying fewer engines than Lotus could use?

Toyota signed their death warrant on the Celica when they killed the All-Trac.

Interesting.
The rumor is that Toyota is going to kill the Spyder.
Wonder if they have an Elise killer waiting to take it's place? It would explain why they don't want to have too many Elises running around.

I dont think they will kill the lotus, in fact, i belive there might be more once the celica is officaly gone. Not an over flow like a honda, but a few more.
The Engine that is used in the cars really wasnt made for the weight of the celica body/chaise, and in the celica's the rev limiter was set low, witch cuased a bunch of enigne damage when people where trring to tune them. all they did was simply re-calabrate the rev limiter on the lotus. Witch produced a more effective engine and when in the lotus, (small and light weight) Just makes that engine fucking awsome!

i've loved those for years, i saw a yellow one on the way to manny's house a couple weekends ago and there is one in the lb clothing co. shop downtown long beach. hot lil ride i must say, british racing green does not do it justice though.
