View Full Version : first welding project....

I was going to make seperate stands for my drill press and grinder, but since I have a shortage of floorspace, I decided to make a combo unit. The base plate is 1/2" thick, and the square tubing is 2 1/2 x 2 1/2, 3/8" thick. The 3/8" diameter anchor bolts are secured into the slab with concrete epoxy and there's 6 of 'em. The thing is ridiculously overbuilt, but that's the way I like it.

Looks good. I would throw on a coat of some enamel paint to finish it up but looks like a nice welding job.

I was gonna do that, you can see where I started to grind things smooth. I got lazy and just decided to bolt it to the floor. I'm getting some other things powdercoated, so I might take the stand in at the same time.

Ooh powdercoating, there's an idea.
Check with Temecula Valley PC, they do great work, and just down off Jefferson.
Thanks for the tip....somehow I figured you'd know someone local. =P
