Brown just dropped off my new finish nailer and compressor. This weekend I'm going to try it out doing some moulding work at one of Susan's offices.
Now is the time to start an injury pool if you were planning to.

Hopefully the images work... my host has been having issues lately.

I see it playing out something like this...
911: "What is the emergency?"
Susan: "Tony is using a nailgun"
911: "Has someone been injured?"
Susan: "Not yet but it won't take long"
911: "911 is only for emergencies"
Tony: "Ow ***** ***** ******** *****!"
911: "Did he just injure himself?"
Susan: "Yup"

That Sheit is funny.
By the way where are you putting all of this stuff?? Did you turn your living room into a wood shop??

Parents' house.
Hopefully we'll have our own garage in the next couple years though. We are still trying to plan all that out.

Very cool Tony. I have actually been looking at finish nailers and I think I will be going with the same nailer and compressor combo as you got. I think the new compressor is going to be a bit too loud for my neighbors liking haha. Have you fired up the compressor yet to hear it? I heard it is one of the quietest on the market.

I actually tried out the setup last night.
The compressor is pretty quiet. Its not silent by any stretch of the imagination but its not much louder than a shop vac and it doesn't need to turn on too often with only one gun running off it. The only knock against the compressor is that its heavy but other than that its an awesome unit. They put a handle on it like you can carry it with one hand. Its bulky and weighs 80 lbs so that handle is kinda wishful thinking. Its easy enough to carry by its beefy roll-cage style frame using both hands though. I had no problem carrying it up and down steps using both hands.
The gun is friggin sweet! I was driving 2.5 inch nails into a 2X4 with no problem at 80 psi. Its super easy to load and use. Some people said the gun doesn't like non-hitachi nails. I put through a stick of porter-cable nails with no problems at all using normal and bump firing. I noticed the home depot near me only had big boxes of bostich nails and small boxes of porter cables. You have to watch out for that. The bostich and a couple other angle nailers have a different angle than the hitachi and most other guns. Some guns are 25 deg but most are 34 deg. I was lucky I remembered that before I bought the wrong nails.
I'll let you know how it works tonight doing the moulding at Susan's.

Sounds very impressive. I heard about the weight of the compressor but that just means it is made of more quality materials to me. Steel instead of plastic that alot of compressors will use. I also think the air blow feature is pretty trick on the nail gun. Haven't seen that on any of the before. What is the nailing angle on the Hitachi btw?

Hitachi is 34 degrees
I had the crown up at susan's place in no time. The gun was smooth and easy to use. It is super light. You actually need a little bit of a light touch to use it otherwise you will easily drive the nails too deep. Its best to just place the gun and let it do the work rather than try to hold it against the piece to be nailed. The compressor is surprisingly quiet but it only turned on maybe 3 times. We only wound up hanging about 30 feet of moulding in addition to hanging and finishing a door. Between the miter saw and the nailgun, we we flying through what needed to be done.
The only snag yesterday was her mom didn't listen to me about buying a pre-hung door a little smaller than what she needed. She didn't understand the concept of a "rough" opening and that doors are shimmed into place. We wound up beating the "right" size door into the opening with a little help from a mallet and a claw hammer.
This is tip to anyone that has ever thought walls are square or even straight...
THEY'RE NOT!
The corollary being...
THEY NEVER ARE!
