View Full Version : CCW license?
Hello.
I've sent an application for my ffl03 in so I can order
a cz-52 and probably a 1911 too, so I was looking into
carrying and it's sounds like it's pretty simple to obtain.
a 4 hour class and a like 500 in fees
(every 2 years I think? Or just a simple renewal fee?).
!BUT!
With my standard info paper work I'll need to
Give:
good character (letters from reputable references), and Good Cause.
Who exactly can give me letters of "good character" my family or wtf?
What kind of cause is "good"?
I just can't say that I'm afraid to get car jacked and get stuck up at an atm or
what?
Thanks for the help.
P.S: I'm not a retarded gang banger or anything like that. :D

just curious, why do you want a ccw permit?

Because its better to have it and not need it, than need it and not have it.
They aren't as easy to get as you think, you need to live in a county with less than 200,000 people to get one easily
Or you need to put down as a reason that you live in the boonies and if the situation were to arise, law enforcement would be a long way away to help you.
I wish you luck, I used to know a guy who knew everything to put on that form, but have lost contact with him, I need to research this further also

your work can be "good cause" if you do security or executive protection, but then you get one that you can only use at work which can later be upgraded from what I understand. Letters from law enforcement officers carry more weight than your family members'.
lol....... good luck on CCW in cali. If you don't own a company and deliver money regularly or you're not security services good fucking luck. The screening process is very long and after it all you still have to convince the local authorizing agent (county sheriff) to sign off. Good luck to you. Cali is one of the worse if not THE worse states to go for a CCW.
Seriously good luck. It's NOT an easy process.

and for anyone in SD who is interested, here is the form.

Looks like Kern county is the place to be if you want a CCW
hehe like I said unless you know someone in government the sheriff is highly unlikely to approve. =\

the only other option is to be the victim of 2 or 3 ADW's :P
or... you move out of cali. =\

Give 'em the car, give 'em the cash. If they're holding you up, they already have the drop on you.

Never ever ever risk your life to protect material things that can be replaced guys.
By the way, using lethal force to protect property will only land you in jail. Lethal force is only acceptable to protect your life, someone else's life, or to protect them/you from great bodily harm.

For sure. Even if you could get a CCW. In Cali, they'd come after you if you ever used it....regardless of how justified you think you are.

Over the last couple months I've come to the realization that Cali has too many ignorant citizens and gun laws. For a state that was settled with guns they sure are afraid of them.
I'm all for CCW and Open Carry. It's our right own and posses these firearms.!

That depends a lot on where you live, some counties still have enlightened sheriffs. heh.
See packing.org (http://www.packing.org/state/california/) for the gory details.
Either way, count yourselves lucky even if it is hard, we foreigners aren't allowed to have one at all up here.

Like Paul said, just because you can LEGALY carry, If you should ever discharge it in self defense, better him than you, but get a lawyer and clear you schedule for awhile, you will have a mess on your hands
