Looking at an e320 (w210)

As the title states, I am looking into either a e320 or an e39 BMW. I am familiar with the Bimmers and their maintenance quirks. As for the MB, how bulletproof is the engine and tranny? I don't mind picking up a car with above average mileage (say 150k) but I would like to have the same confidence while comparing apples to apples.

Does anyone have any experience to share on the w210 e-class?

My mom's got one. Been super reliable except some minor stuff. Her dash bulb went out, had those replaced at dealership lil pricey i believe.

Besides that, regular maintaince. She's 100k on her car now

Her's is a 1999 E320. I put bilstein sport shocks and H&R springs with 18" wheels.

Been a very good car for her, and she's not very car savvy.

Overall, she gets awesome gas mileage, i think highway is rated at 32mpg for a 3.2L V6, not bad

Inching closer and closer to an e320 Wagon now that the e36 has sold...

I figure to have plenty of room for the car seat, stroller, golf clubs and dog :D
