it's not that steep, not for how tastefully modded it is, thanks though

not really...
'ghetto' textured bumpers
an intake and exhaust
and coilovers
my buddy has a 97 VR6 with similar mods, plus an LSD, and he couldn't sell it for 7k last year...
and 100k mile car is still a 100k mile car...

Thats a little harsh dude. His price is high, but no need to bash the poor car
BTW, doesn't Lon have his MK3 VR for sale in as nice, or nicer shape for $7K with a new motor?
For $10K you can find a 100K or less mile MK4 VR
Lower the price or nobody is even gonna call. I have bought and sold cars like people change underwear. Unless your friend wants to sit on it untill the next decade when inflation catches up. Lower the price

it's a 98
but yah, no need to bash...
but anyways, it's his car, i'm just putting it up on here for him
i already told him that it's pretty steep and that he needs to lower the price, so hopefully, that's what he'll do

he'll go lower but he'd have to take off most of the mods first

Constructive criticism:
Mods do NOT make a car worth more money, they make it worth LESS money. That's just how the market works. Nobody wants to pay more for the neighborhood whore than they would for the virgin prom queen. Modded or customized cars have been run hard, that's the general notoriety they get. Unmolested stock cars are worth more. Even check KBB values, adding aftermarket wheels takes away $100 from the value. Even if they're $1200/each HRE wheels, it takes away value from the car.
Tell him to put it back to stock, sell the mods separately, and sell the car for the going market value (which is like $6k), and that's about the ideal he can hope for. Otherwise, if he wants to sell it as it sits, he's going to have to come down on the price for people to even consider it. I know a couple people looking for Mk3 VR6 GTi's, but this is nearly twice the going rate for a decent one with 100k miles.

yah i told him he needs to drop his price, so hopefully he does that, and takes off some of the mods
even taking off the mods, its not going to make a differance unless your planing on marketing joe shmoe. Its a $6K tops car with or without mods. Now if it had a VF kit on a 3.0 with a Schrick and DSR cams, and six speed, thats another story

just a matter of if you want to wait

you could..... guess all of you who talked sh*t from the start got caught with their foot in their mouth. "asking" 10k is as it said asking when someone serious comes up with money is hand the price comes down......
so let the lesson be learned dont talk sh*T on peoples threads... you want others doing it to yours......
some people just are willing to put up the cash, after seeing it in person.....
The price was still way steep, and as the old saying goes, there is an ass for every seat.
Whoever bought it at that price, I hope your buddy used lube and bought him breakfast the next morning, he doesn't have to, but its the right thing to do............
As for me, I'm off tomorrow to destroy every MK3 GTI so I will have the only one left so they have to pay my price! Supply and demand..................

goodluck.... maybe when you wake up from your dream you will see the real world.... the only good statement you have is that is an ass for every seat..... one thing you forgot is that all the asses seem to be in this forum.... :drama:
