would you spend $250 USD for one 10 min lap around the track in a BMW M5? (someone else is driving)

I think its totally worth it! You can bring a max # of 3 people, so if you split it up, its only about $60 euros a person ($175 euros total) :D Do It! Plus, hans stuck will probably be driving so thats gonna be alot of fun

The regular toll is just 15 or so Euros($20), why would I spend over 10 times that to ride in someone else's car?

Wow, they raised the prices  It still says $175 Euros on the nurburgring website. In that case, I would say no. Just rent a car and go crazy on the autobahn. Although when your on the autobahn, there is always someone faster ;)

If they're doing in under 10 minutes, it must be a closed road day.
That makes it more interesting, but not $250 interesting.

When last I was there, you could get an "all day" pass for pretty cheap (relatively speaking). Hire a car and go nuts for 10 laps.
A lot more fun than just one ride with someone else driving.
Just remember that it is a public road, so you can get fined or worse if you get ultra-crazy.
Also, if you run off the road, they _will_ make you pay for the Armco Barriers you run into. =)

... well shit, the poll is split 50/50.. thanks for the comments and advice.. i'm still on the fence though, so i guess i'll wait until i'm actually there to make the decision.. and as it turns out, we might not be going to nurgurgring at all.. instead we may go to eurospeedway lausitz because it's closer to where we'll be.. saxony. i know the DTM is run at lausitz, but the next DTM race isnt until may, a month after i'll be gone.
i'm actually really frustrated by this, because going to germany for me, might be a one time deal. i dont know when, if ever, there will be a next time.. and the one thing that i want to see is the nurburgring, but that idea was basically just 86'd by our host, because it's a long/expensive train ride (supposedly). the real kick in the ass is that i'm meeting my brother, who's getting leave from iraq, who chose germany for who knows why, so i really dont have a say in what happens... it's his show. but on the other hand, i'm already out $1000 and i haven't left the states yet, i want my money's worth damnit.
anything else in germany besides racing that's worth seeing?

No not anymore. The big rental companys have a deal with the course operators. The will not let you go on track. There are specialiced rental companys out now who will rent for that purpose but you can imagine how much that cost.

Thank you! Sabine Schmidt is my idol, yo. I was waiting for someone to bring up her in the Transit Van.
I have that video on my phone; I watch it in class when I'm bored. Poor hamster, he was scared.
She's priceless..."Oversteer and understeer and every-zing" & "6 GEEEEEAAARR!"
