My Coupe GT has stopped on me 3 times this week! :( Driving home just now and same shit. Hit the gas and nothing. Just coasted to a stop. I was on the side of the road for about 20 minutes, periodically trying to start it. It would just crank and crank. Then it finally turned over and I was able to get home. It might be my imagination but it felt like my car had less power when I was driving it home. Any ideas guys? I changed the fuel pump relay and the main fuel filter. I found this wire (ground?) today. It's on the intake manifold. Wire is broken except for a couple threads. Could this be the issue?

Brain,
Who knows, with that car. But if that wire is grounding the ECU and it's broken, it could cause a lot of problems. You remember my '82 Yota pickup with the Ford 5.0 V8? It had a wire that went from the battery to the firewall, and when I replaced the battery I figured it was nothing so I removed it and when I put the new battery in the truck was all fvcked up! Like really bad. I came to find out that, the wire was grounding out the entire engine and ECU. Kinda random, but whatever. Put the wire back on and it was money.

But it sounds like you could have a million different things going on there. Fuel was a good place to start, but don't neglect the injectors and any thing else that invole fuel. Good luck bro.

ground are a bitch. one thing that most people will over look in a DC current system is the grounding system. if there are any electrical people are here they will second this, but the ground is actually where the power comes from in DC systems. the electrons flow from negative to positive. so it's always best to have a ground wire that is equal if not larger than the positive on everything. especially if you are doing high current things like sound systems.

i would try replacing that wire in it's entirety and i would try to find what caused it to go out. but that's just me.

Thanks guys. I can't replace the whole wire unfortunately. It goes into a wire bundle and goes who knows where. I'll just grab some wire tonight from work and a new terminal and splice it tomorrow. I really hope this is it! This thing is stressing me out.
