So... a couple friends and I are taking a small trip to europe over spring break and we were looking at hotels in Amsterdam. I was just wondering if anybody has any reccomendations on places to stay. Anybody been to amsterdam?
Thanks

haha very true...
but I'd like to stay at somewhere nice, not too nice, but decent. I've stayed at hostels before and I didn't really like the strangers and the random people and stuff. I mean, it was a lot of fun, but you never know who the people around you will be, especially in amsterdam... I don't wanna get my shit stolen in amsterdam :D

i think you can get your own rooms in the hostels though. maybe a little more money.

been there 7 times and LOVE IT! as far as where to stay.. honestly we stayed at this camping hostel and it rocked.. they have tents (with hard wood floors) and beds, lockers, and it's out in the middle of a forest on the outskirts of town, great way to really meet people and have a good time, plus it's only $15/night.. but if you want luxury i'd go for the holiday inn on the outskirts as well, it's pretty easy to get in and out of town and the rooms are REALLY nice... man there's so much to do and see while you're there, i'm jealous!.. few places you need to see, culture wise i'd hit up the van gogh museum of course (it's kinda disappointing) but the park nearby is awesome, they also have a diamond factory that's cool, really cheap diamonds there.. the architecture everywhere is really nice as well, and of course the queen's mansion.. then "pleasuer" wise.. check out smokey's, the grasshopper, and the bob marley pub.. lemme know if you need some more detailed info, like where to park, etc..
oh and on a sidenote.. i would keep your wallet in your front pocket and put a pocket knife (with the tip out and pointing up) in your normal wallet pocket... it's pretty funny watching people stab their hands when they try to pick pocket you

found the parking place we used, it always has space and was fairly cheap, also right when you start to walk downtown there is a bike rental place
